STATE OF TENNESSEE, Executive Department:
I, Newton Cannon, governor of the State aforesaid,hereby certify that the company of Captain Maxwell was received by me, as stated in his certificate, and held in readiness to supply any deficiency in organizing the East Tennessee brigade, or the place of those who might retire from the service at the expiration of the six months for which they were received.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand, and caused the great seal of the State to be [L. S.] affixed, at Nashville, the 12th day of September, 1837.

I certify, on honor, that this musterroll exhibits the true state of Captain Henry S. Maxwell’s company of the Tennessee volunteer mounted militia, under the requisition of the Secretary of War of May 26, 1836, and Governor Cannon’s proclamation of June 6, 1836, for the period herein mentioned, and that the remarks set opposite the name of each officer and soldier are accurate and just.
