finally in the late 1840's settled in Muhlenberg Co. KY where in died

and eventually moved to Muhlenberg Co. KY also. Other DOBBSes who
lived in Hopkins Co. KY before moving to Shawneetown, Gallatin Co.,
IL were Lodaway DOBBS and Morton DOBBS. Living in Shawneetown with
Lodaway (b. 1797 in Georgia) and Morton Dobbs (also b. in Georgia)in
1850 was also a William DOBBS. Does anyone know what the relationship
between these DOBBSes is? And specifically, how do Joseph and Louiza

Hi! I am trying to locate ANY information on my ancestors. My great
grandfather's name was Lem Bear. He was full blooded Cherokee. The
spelling on the first name may be mispelled, another spelling I have
seen is Limb. He was a veteran of WWI. A number on his death
certificate was 3,237,194; although I have no idea what this number
is for. He was inducted at Ft.Thomas Kentucky and served from
7-5-1918 until 11-29-1918 and honorably discharged at Camp Sheridan,
AL. with the rank of Private of Co. A, 46th Infantry. His birth date
was 1-1-1891, in Union, TN. and he died 8-19-1939 in Jacksboro,
Campbell County, TN. He married Mary Della Wallace, who was my great
grandmother. He was married one other time to Cordelia Mosley. His
father's name was Isaac Bear; Indian name Running Bear. Running Bear
was in the Civil War as a blacksmith in the Army. He had a half
brother whose name I do not know, but the half brother had a son
named Eagle Eye Bear. I do not have much more information than this.

I am a descendant of William Shook who was born in VA and married
Catherine Sears. They moved to TN and. made their home in the
District south of French Broad and Holston Rivers, now Knox County.
His land lay along Shook Mill Creek (now known as Burnett's Mill
Creek) about nine miles from Knoxville. More than 20 years after it
is thought he made his home there, and more than 10 years after TN
became a state, he finally gained legal possession and a record was
made of it on 2/10/1807, recorded as Grant No. 602 on 6/8/1809 (TN
Grant Book 1, Pg 602). On Burnett's Creek, near the 1960 home of
James B. Bolin, are evidences of an old mill dam, thought to be the
site and Wm. Shook's mill on the creek once known as Shook Mill
Creek. William and Catherine were parents of 11 children: Margaret

Montgomery; Mary Ann 12/21/1782 and died before 1845 and married
Thomas Carpenter III; Harmon Shook 9/15/1778 married Margaret
McMillan in Knox Co on 2/16/1808 (MY GGGG GRANDPARENTS); Jemima who
married Rowley McMillan on 3/8/1807 in Knox Co; John Shook who
married Catherine Wilson on 8/7/1816. William sold his remainingI
land to Joshua Monday on 10/11/1811 and moved to the wilderness -
Flat Creek - in Bedford County, TN. He lived here until his death and
was buried in the Shook Graveyard. I believe after the Civil War a
new Shook family came to Knox County from North Carolina, whereas
William came from Virginia (Hampshire County was in Virginia prior to
Civil War but are now part of West Virginia). Do I have any cousins
out there?
