CROWELLI'm trying to locate information on my paternal
grandmother, who married Wm. Frank CROWELL, originally from
the Wheel community between Shelbyville and Lewisburg, TN.
Her name was Elizabeth, and was supposedly halfblood
Cherokee, although this connection wasn't discussed much by
either her nor my grandfather while they were alive. Her
appearance, however, was very Native American in character
and this would tend to support that assertion. Both died
recently in the mid 1990s, also in Bedford Co., although
they lived for approximately 40 years previously in
Nashville. In particular, I'm trying to locate Elizabeth
Crowell's maiden name, which should give me some further
pointers that may lead directly back to a Cherokee
ancestor.
