JENKINS, RANSOM

My ggrandfather, Nim. S. JENKINS (b. circa 1852)married Addie Mae RANSOM on 3 Sept 1872 in Bedford County, TN. They had three children, according to my grandfather's bible. They were Walter Ransom (my grandfather), James W. and Annie Mae. Our bible says the parents died in an epidemic when the children were young. They were separated, went to live with relatives (?) and never saw each other again. Any help in tracing deaths, who they went to live with, etc. would be helpful. Bible says Nim's parents were Hiram and Nancy but I have yet to verify that.

PHILIPS

I am looking for the ancestors of Laban PHILIPS (usually spelled with one "l"). His daughter, Mary Ann, married Joseph Birdwell and they became my GG Grandparents. According to the census, he was born in SC somewhere between 1783-1791 and he died in Johnson Co. IL in 1879. The 1820 census of Chetham county NC lists many PHILIPS' including a Laban PHILIPS. I understand that there was another Laban PHILIPS about that time that never left North Carolina so I'm not sure who's who. He later moved to Bedford Co., TN where my GG Grandmother was born in 1823. The 1830 census lists a Laban PHILIPS in Bedford County and he's in the 1840 census of Marshall County AL. In the late 1840's he and his family moved with his daughter and son-in-law to Johnson County Illinois where he died in November 11, 1879 .Laban married a woman named Rebbeca (1794 - 10 Sept. 1879). No one is exactly sure of her maiden name but it may be Garret or Garrison or Gavis. Census records state that she was born in SC.
