CARMACK In Washington Co. TX. Most researchers contend that Jesse
Ann CARMACK of TX. Is the son of Jesse C. CARMACK & Ann BLACK of
OVERTON CO. TN.--- Ann did have a son named Jesse born abt. 1820
however a 1850 & 1860 census in Washington Co. TX. listed Jesse born
in 1797. Ann BLACK was 4 yr. old at that time. The Jesse in Tx.Is
probably the son of Jesse's brother John who settled in Bledsoe Co.

I am searching for the parents of my gggrandfather
James G.
Ford. James G. Ford was born in Bledsoe County, Tn in 1830. Another
member of
the family was Reuben Ford who married Susan Loden or Logan. Ruben and
Susan
were from Virginia, but came to Bledsoe County, Tenn. James G. Ford
married
Catherine, do not know her maiden name. I believe that Reuben Ford was
either a
brother or the father of James G. Ford, but need proof of it. James G. and
Catherine left Tenn and moved to Benton County, Arkansas. Reuben and Susan
went
there also. After the death of James and Catherine before 1866, Reuben and
Susan raised their four sons, one of which was my great grandfather. The
sons
were, John Walker Ford, Andrew Jackson Ford, Charlie C. Ford, Robert Ford
and
James. James was accidentally killed when he was small. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks! Eddie Mills Dugger, Houston, T!

Need any information
concerning
early historic settlers in east TN named LINCOLNIEL. There is a petroglyph
boulder near a spring in the highlands of north Hamilton Co. inscribed w/ a
number of pictures and bearing the name LINCOLNIEL. The site also contains
a
lye-leaching stone, remnants of an old stone fence, and other early
historic
architecture. I have been unable to locate any record of LINCOLNIELs in
this
area. I want to know their story. Who left these marks on the land, when,

I am developing a regimental history of my
ggrandfather's,
James Madison Martin, regiment, the 43rd Tennessee Infantry, CSA, intend to
publish which will include a complete roster, by individual companies,
including
as much pertinent biographical information possible on each of the
soldiers. He
had three brothers in Co. K including Issac Martin who died at Vicksburg. I
have
the national archives microfilm rolls of the regiments service records,
Official
Records of the War,
Tennesseans in the Civil War, and most of the basic reference works .
Since
most official confederate army records did not survive, I am looking for
letters, diaries, momentos, photos, papers, histories, etc., Any help you
can
provide would be greatly appreciated. A memorial ceremony will be conducted
on
Confederate Memorial Day, April 26, 1998 (I believe) at the Vicksburg,
Miss.
City Cemetery dedicating newly placed tomb stones for Confederate
soldiers,
including 31 of those from the 43rd Tenn.
