HUNTERI am looking for information on the HUNTER family. Malcom Hunter wasborn in Bledsoe County in 1836 and moved to Wright County, Missouriin 1874. When he came to Missoui, he married a girl named SarahElizabeth HUNTER. They may have been cousins. Her father was alsonamed Malcom HUNTER and he lived in Bledsoe County before coming toMissouri around 1854. In a book on the history of Bledsoe County, heis listed as serving in the Cherokee wars 1836-1838. I assume thatthey all are related somewhere down the line. CLARK, GRIFFITHSearching for any information on Gillam N. CLARK. General Land Entryfile contains statement from War Dept. for service in Civil War. Enrolled October 13, 1864 at Rock Island, IL, age 24. Telegraphicdischarge states he MO at Ft. Leavenworth, KS in 1865. Discharge states he was born in Bledsoe, TN. and was a farmer at the time heenrolled. Census lists his birthday as Aug. 1840, TN. Gillammarried Mollie J. ? (born June 1850) and had the following knownchildren: Edward C. (Nov 1871), Lorenzo A. (June 1877), and LeOla O.CLARK (born March 5, 1886). This family was in the Arkansas Ozarksby 1900 and the census lists Mollie as the mother of 6 children with5 living. LeOla married Cephus Monroe GRIFFITH, son of William C.,son of Peleg GRIFFITH. SELF, NARRAMOREJesse Self married Mary Narramore in Bledsoe Co., TN 02/16/1812. Wereother Selfs in the area about 1790-1820? Jesse was reputedly born09/24/1782 in Granville Co., NC, although I have been unable toverify these data. He may have been born in East TN before statehoodwhen it was still considered part of NC. Parents or siblings forJesse have not yet been found, although several (perhaps brothers orcousins) followed the same migration patten he did. Mary and Jessehad 12 children born in Bledsoe Co., TN; Jefferson Co., AL; andHabersham & Walker Co's., GA. I have traced many of their descendants(over 3,100 persons, including spouses) and will be glad to swapinfo. My line is through their 7th child, Joseph L. Self, who removedfrom Walker Co., GA to Scott Co., AR in 1870. Any possible clues toJesse's connections would be immensely appreciated!
