His daughter Lucy marriedJames Edens. They both purchased land at the first land sale inMorgan County, Alabama, in 1818. Both were involved in the BaptistChurch and went on to help establish two of the earlies churches andboth were ordained and served as ministers. As Featherston is not acommon given name, I think this is probably my ancestor. The BedfordCounty Page says Walden's Ridge was possibly named for John Waldenwho died there. NEAL, NEWMAN
I'm attempting to research my grandfather, Franklin Calhoun NEAL, whowas born 4 Feb 1870 in Pikeville. He died 13 Mar 1948 inChattanooga. He was married twice. The only information I have onthe first wife is that she was an aunt to his second wife and thatshe was called Sissie. His second wife was Mary Ellen Johnson ofDunlap (5 Jun 1883). From family records I know that he was married14 Jan 1899 by a pastor named Dick Thurman in Dunlap Tennessee. His death certificate lists his father as "Unknown" and his mother asMartha NEWMAN of Tennessee. We also have a picture of a "Cousin JackNewman".What we are looking for is a lead on his father. For some reason, hischildren also thought his last name might be Powers or that he was anadopted child.

PENDERGRASS
PENDERGRASS, John Eley, Sr. Searching for confirmation re: the deathof John Eley Pendergrass, Sr. (born circa 1803 in North Carolina), myg-g-g-grandfather. According to family tradition and to some writtenfamily history, John Eley Pendergrass, Sr. was living in Bledsoe County, TN during the Civil War, was loyal to the Union and was beheaded in 1863 by guerilla raiders (perhaps Champ Ferguson and his men). However, I have not been able to find verifiable documentationto prove his death. Does anyone have documentation re: the guerilla activities or John Eley Pendergrass, Sr.'s death? I will gladlyshare information re: the Pendergrass line. Linda S. Mines 2401 HavenCove Lane Chattanooga, TN 37421 423

SIMMONS
SIMMONS, Amos and Priscilla. Am anxious to obtain information re: Amos and Priscilla Simmons who appear in the Bledsoe Co., TN 1850 census. Amos was born circa 1810 in NC and Priscilla was born in 1812in Tennessee. Priscilla (maiden name unknown) apparently died priorto 1860 since the 1860 Bledsoe County census lists Amos with secondwife, Margaret (born NC). Amos and Priscilla's daughter, Rebecca, married William Waring Pendergrass in Bledsoe County circa 1850-51. William Waring Pendergrass and Rebecca Simmons Pendergrass are my great-great-grandparents. Census information appears to support the fact that Amos was the son of Sarah Pendergrass (born circa 1790, NC)who is living in Bledsoe County from 1830-1850. If this supposition is true, then Amos Simmons had two brothers residing in BledsoeCounty also - - Thomas (born circa 1808) and John (born circa 1814-15). I will share all information. If you are related to this family andcan help me prove the connection or assist
