Death Records Database Background

The entries for the database come from the following sources:

  • Miller Funeral Home Records: 1941-2001 -- Abstracted and transcribed by Glenn Teffeteller and Jeff Worth.

  • Misc. Entries - as submitted by users. Can be death certificate information, additional obituary information, etc.

  • Memorial Funeral Home Records 1962 - 2006 -- Abstracted and transcribed by Glen Teffeteller and Jeff Worth

  • Maryville Enterprise: 1906-1960 -- compilation of obituaries listed in the Maryville Enterprise from 1906-1960. Even animals were included if the owners name was mentioned in the article. The information included is the person's name, age and the date of publication. Sometimes a person may be listed twice. In this instance, there may have been a death notice and the funeral at a later date. It is up to the individual seeking information to check all publication dates. This has been a monumental task that has taken Glenn Teffeteller ten years to complete. This information has been posted here with his consent to help others find information on their Blount County ancestors.

  • Index to Misc Obituaries: 1867-1940 - over 11,000 obituaries. This index is a compilation of obituaries listed in the below periodicals. Except for the Maryville Times, all periodicals appear on one roll of microfilm. Even animals were included if the owners name was mentioned in the article. Sometimes a person may be listed twice. In this instance, there may have been a death notice and the funeral at a later date. It is up to the individual seeking information to check all publication dates. This has been a monumental task that has taken Glenn Teffeteller ten years to complete.
