Notes for Alexander Frazier:
Frazier -Fraser: Orgin and Locale of the name
(There are various spellings of this name Frazier, Frasier, Fraizer, Frazer, Fraser, Frasure and many others)
QUOTE One of the ancestral homes of the powerful clan Fraser, the castle is nestled in the Grampian hills northwest of Aberdeen, near the River Don. Built in 1575, (it took 35 years to finish) the castle was the home of the Frasers until 1921. It is considered one of the most spectacular castles in a region well-known for its castles.
It was during the last tenure of Laird Frederick MacKenzie Fraser that a princess was killed in the castle's Green Room and dragged down the stairs, which thereafter could never be cleansed of the bloodstains. The ghost of the princess reportedly haunts the castle and is quite fond of rearranging furniture.
Clan Fraser is of Norman origin, and the bloodlines were brought to Great Britain by a knight named Frezel, from the lordship of La Frezeliere in Anjou. Legend traces the origin of the name Fraser to Jules de Berry, a tenth century French gentleman who served a plate of strawberries to King Charles the Simple and was knighted with the name "Fraiser", (French for strawberry). In acknowledgment of this legend, the Frasers have always borne strawberry flowers in their coat of arms.
The earliest known Scottish Fraser was Gilbert de Fraser, who lived near the Borders in 1109. However the main line of Fraser developed from Sir Gilbert of Touch-Fraser, who died in 1263. Sir Laurence Abernethy was created 1st Lord Saltoun in 1445. A junior branch of the family, Fraser of Lovat descended from Hugh Fraser who married the Bisset heiress and obtained her lands; they are known in Gaelic as "Na Friosalaich".
Sir Simon Fraser was a supporter of Sir William Wallace (Braveheart) in the Wars of Independence against England, and just like Wallace, he was captured by the English, hanged, drawn and quartered.
Because of feuding clan issues, a great battle between the Frasers and MacDonalds was fought in 1544 on the shores of Loch Locky. The battle was known as "The Battle of Shirts," since the combatants removed their shirts, and drenched with sweat, dust and blood, fought until there were five Frasers (of over 200 who had started the fight) and eight MacDonalds were left standing.
The town of Fraserburgh in Scotland was founded by Alexander Fraser, 8th Laird of Philorth in 1570. In 1670 the Frasers inherited the Saltoun peerage and since then Frasers have been Lords Saltoun. In 1745, the Frasers joined the doomed forces of the Jacobites at Culloden.
It was Simon, 11th Lord Lovat (who had been exiled to France for having seized the widow of his cousin, the 9th Lord) who returned in 1715 to support the Government forces and his exile was terminated. In 1740 he joined the Young Pretender, was appointed General of the Highlands and created Duke of Fraser. He was arrested in 1746 and beheaded in London (the last beheading in Britain).
By 1757, almost 2,000 Frasers were raised by the clan to fight in America, where they fought with many honors.UNQUOTE

I do not have anything on Alexander Frazier's
background, just that he received a land grant from John Guest on
20 Nov 1706 in Chester Co., PA (Chester Co. Deed Bk. B, p96). I
think this is a deed and not a "land grant" which is the wording
the way I received the info. His will dated 3 Aug 1750, proved

Notes for John Frazier:
This family probably remained in Randolph Co., N. C. until past 1809-J.M. Robbins
All evidence (mostly circumstantial) points to this John as our John.
John went from Guilford County over the county line to Randolph where he found Rebecca and married her abt 1789. In the 1790, North Carolina (Montgomery County) census John Frazier has a wife and one small male child. From his age on 1830 and 1840 census, I think this is Samuel. Also, Rebeccak was born during this time . About 1825 John and family moved to Monroe County, Tennessee, where he is listed on tax list for 1826 and 1827. For the1830 and 1840 census they were in McMinn County, Tennessee. The 1850 census showed him in Bradley County, Tennessee (Bradley County was formed from a part of McMinn County and others in 1836). This census showed John and Rebecca to be 78 and 76 years old and both born in North Carolina. They probably died before 1860 census, since they are not listed
Four of the children moved to Missouri.
On the 1850 Census, daughter Kizziah and two children; John and Mary Melissa are also in the home. Kizziah first married Daniel Pearce and had two children. Kizziah married again in 1850 to George Ghan. They moved to Christian County, Missouri about 1869.
Lorenzo Low, Thomas J. and Abigail also moved to Missouri. Some think that John and Rebecca went to Missouri and died there. They were still in Bradley Co. for the 1850 census?

Have some conflicting information on the children in this family. This is the best information that I have now. Questions: Who were the children born in the time before they are found in Tennessee. They were probably of an age to be married and out of the home but what are their names etc. I have only two: Samuel and Rebecca.
Notes for Rebecca Low/Lowe:
Rebecca's father was Samuel Low/Lau/Lowe who was Born about 1723 in Rhein land Pfalz HRE. He married Tabitha Skeen, about 1744. Samuel came to this country, probably following his parents and other members of the family. Samuel is first found in Guilford Co., N.C. about 1760

Notes for Samuel Frazier:
I have spent many hours trying to find out more about Samuel. There just doesn't seem to be any records on him. The only information I can find are the 1830 and 1840 McMinn County census. Did both he and his wife die before 1850 census? Since some of the children are living with older brother, Philip, in 1850 Bradley County census; makes me think that they did. I don't know where they are buried.
These children are listed according to 1830 and 1840 McMinn County census
1850 Bradley County census: Davis A. Frazier (18) and Martha Frazier(11) are listed living with Philip
Mary Frazier age 45 listed on Bradley County census by herself? Could this be Samuel's widow????
1840 McMinn County Census:
Samuel Frazier, 40-50,
1 male under 5
1 male between 5-10
2 males between 10-15
1 male 15-20
1 female, 30-40
1 female under 5
1 female 15-20
This census leads me to believe that Philip is Samuel's son. There is a male child the right age to be Philip. John and Rebecca Frazier, the grandparents are near by. Rebecca would be almost to old by the time of Philip's birth to be his mother.
Children of Samuel Frazier and ? Allison are:
275 i. Rebecca6 Frazier, born Bet. 1820 - 1825 in Guilford County, North Carolina.
+ 276 ii. Philip Frazier, born 13 Mar 1821 in Guilford Co., North Carolina; died 02 Nov 1889 in Bradley County, Tennessee.
277 iii. William Frazier, born Abt. 1828 in McMinn County Tennessee. He married Eliza ?.

There is a William Frazur with wife Eliza in Hamilton County.
Sarah, age 15, is listed with him. Could she be a sibling, another of Samuel's children???

Notes for Lorenzo Low Frazier:
LORENZO LOW FRAZIER: Lorenza served as a soldier in the Seminole Indian War which lasted from 1835 to 1842 and in which the Seminole Indians in Northern Florida were removed to lands in Oklahoma. For this service he received a grant of land from the U. S. Government. The records show that L. L. Frazier received a grant of land from the U. S. Government for services as a private soldier in Captain Cunningham's Company of Tennessee Militia in the Florida War. This land was located in Christian County, Missouri. The patent to this land was issued September 10, 1848, and is signed by Millard Fillmore, President of the United States. On coming to Missouri in 1848, Lorenza L. Frazier and his wife established their home upon this tract of land. They continued to live here until their death. This tract of land begins a quarter mile east of the village of Boaz and extends for a mile down a beautiful valley that leads out to the James River. This grant of land remained continuously in the possession of members of the Frazier family for 105 years. Lorenza Frazier was a practicing physician and had an important place in the development of this new country. Lorenza was known in the community as "Uncle Dr. Frazier". Besides his farm and his medical practice, he maintained a store which was combination of drug store and general store. He obtained his drugs and the few staple articles for this frontier Store by ox team from the mouth of the Linn Creek which was at the head of navigation on the Osage River, and is near where Bagnell Dam now is. Later when the railroad reached Rolla, Missouri, the goods came from Rolla by the same mode of transportation. Elisha Fraizer, Lorenza's son told his son D. S., that as a boy he would take a load of bacon from home to the lead mines at Granby in the extreme southwest corner of Missouri and exchange the bacon for lead which he then took to the mouth of Linn Creek and exchanged it for goods to be hauled back home for the store. This trip with a good ox team took not less than three weeks. Lorenza and Hannah Frazier were staunch Methodists and about 1858, Lorenza gave 5 acres of land to be used as a site for a church and cemetery. Upon this site he and his neighbors built a log house which was used both as a church and as a school house. This building was later displaced by a small frame church known as Lorenza Chapel. In the year 1893, this building was replaced by a larger building which stood until about 1950. Regular services were held there for about 80 years. This is the church at which David Solomon Frazier, Lorenza's grandson, preached. The cemetery at this site contains the graves of more than thirty Civil War Veterans and a number of Veterans of later wars. (from D. S. Frazier's Historical Sketch of the Fraziers) Lorenzo Lowe Frazier was born on July 11, 1819, in North Carolina, the son of John Frazier and Rebecca Lowe. He moved with his parents to Monroe County, Tennessee, and by 1836, the family had moved to McMinn County, Tennessee, near the city of Athens. On July 9, 1839, he was married to Hannah Bryant. In 1842, his older brother, Martin, received a land grant in Bradley County, Tennessee, near the city of Cleveland, and it was probably about this time that most of the Frazier family moved there. Lorenzo served as a Private in Captain Cunningham's Company of the Tennessee Militia during the Seminole Indian War. The war lasted from 1835 to 1842, and after the Seminoles were subdued they were moved to the Oklahoma Territory. In 1848, Lorenzo and his family moved to Greene County, Missouri, where he received a land grant for his military service. The patent was issued on September 10, 1848, and was signed by Millard Fillmore, President of the United States. This tract of land became a part of Christian County, Missouri, in 1859, and was east of the village of Boaz. As a young boy in Tennessee, Lorenzo received a moderate education. When a young man he read medicine with a Dr. Clark in Tennessee, but followed agricultural pursuits until after he moved to Missouri. Their first year in Missouri the family rented property in Greene County, and then moved two miles west to the property Lorenzo received in the land grant. Their first home there was a rail pen with the wagon cover for a roof. After he came to Missouri, Lorenzo gradually began to practice medicine and was a contemporary with Dr. E. T. Robertson. He served as a physician during the Civil War, and as the years passed became the leading physician of the entire region. He was well known and respected in Christian County and adjacent counties. Early in the Civil War he became the First Lieutenant of a company of Home Guards. He commanded the company at the beginning of the Wilson Creek Battle. During this engagement his command was cut off, and he along with others retreated into Kansas for a brief period of time. Formerly a Democrat in politics, Lorenzo later affiliated with the Republican party. Although frequently solicited to run for office, his devotion to his profession caused him to refuse. His career was always above reproach. From the age of 19, he was a devoted Methodist, but when he came to Missouri there was no Methodist organization in his area. He took it upon himself to erect a small church on his property and to engage a minister for it. He later donated the land to the church, together with a burying-ground, known as Frazier Cemetery. The church is known as Lorenzo Chapel. After the death of his wife, Hannah, Dr. Frazier remarried. His second wife was Cyntha Long Burchfield Thomas, the great-granddaughter of Josiah Maples and Ruthea Sweeney. Lorenzo, both of his wives and many of his descendants are buried at Frazier Cemetery in Christian County, Missouri.
