Searching for family of Martin VanBuren RICHARDSON,
b 13 May 1841 in Bradley Co., TN. He joined the Confederate Army from Bellefonte,
AR in 1862 and at about the same time, he married Narcissa KING. Their
children: (1) Wesley b 1863, (2) Amzie Tilford b 1866 and (3) Bellzora b
1868. He deserted this family during the war's aftermath. Finally, I found
him in Slaughter, LA where he died 11 N ov 1923. Here he had another wife
and three daughters, names unknown, and one son named Willie. Any ideas

John J. BANKS, sonof Moses BANKS was born in Gilmer
Co. GA. He married Minerva MORELAND and moved to Bradley Co. the Children
were Joseph, Adolphus, Columbus and Adda. Columbus moved to Birmingham Ala.
Joseph was a brick mason and died in 1900 buried Cleveland. Minerva died
1911, buried Cleveland, John J, and Adolphus died with in days of each other
in 1914 at the Birmingham home of Columbus. John J. was a retired shoe maker.
Both buried in Cleveland. There was a daughter Adda who married John Pardue.
Does anyone have info on these families.

Any help in discovering my Cherokee ancestry would
be appreciated greatly. They lived in or near Cleveland, TN. My grandmother's
mother had Cherokee blood, either 1/4 or 1/2. Her name was Ollie Oleana
Brown and her maiden name may have been Webb but her mother's maiden name
was Richmond, I think. It could be vice versa. And I think Ollie's father
was called Tom but not sure. He was married to Martha Ann Richmond Webb,
I believe. But it was the father who was Cherokee, I think. Any help at all
would be wonderful...I want very much to know what clan they were from and

died I believe in Feb. 1849. His wife's name was Sarah TUCKER. His place of

held in Bradley Co. The person accused of the murder of Paul HERRIFORD was

and Louise. According to the June 29, 1880 cenus taken in Cleveland in Bradley
County Bell was a Widowed, servant /cook at The Layne Hotel. Bell and her
children were listed as mulatto but it was said that they were Cherokee.
All of her children were listed as servants. Jane Tucker married John Tibbs
of Cleveland Tenn. John TIBBS was a slave he went to school with his mistress'
children and sat in the back of the room. When John was set free by his
owner he was given 2 acres of land, a mule and restaurant. His former owner
also took John to vote and he was appointed to serve on the Board of Education
in Cleveland Tenn and worked with several Civic organizations. John also
owned a bakery in Cleveland. John TIBBS and Jane TUCKER had 11 children,

Looking for information on my grandfather, Alonzo
TURNER (1850 - 1935). He was born in Flat Rock (Shelby Co.), Indiana. He
lived, at times, in Cleveland (Bradley Co.), Tennessee. He married twice.
His first wife was a Minerva ELLIOTT (1856 - 1895). Together they had 5 children.
Their names are as follows: Everett G., Della, Beulah, Bessie and Perry E.
TURNER. They home of residence was Cleveland (Bradley Co.), Tennessee. After
the untimely death of Alonzo's first wife, he married Amine Charlotte CASTRET
(1876 - 1955). They purportedly were married in Cleveland, Tennessee in
the year 1897. They had 4 children. They were: Warren Peter, Clara May (who
married a Peasley), Homer Milton, and Ruth Ann TURNER. At sometime in their
lives, they relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana where they later died and

Hi, I'm researching the YOAKUM family of East
Tennessee. George YOAKUM settled in Powell Valley, Hawkins/Grainger County
(now Claiborne County, Tennessee as early as 1796 or before. He previously
lived in LEE County, Virginia at YOAKUM Station. A new YOAKUM Station was
built in Tennessee in what is now Speedwell. George married Martha VAN BEBBER
in GREENBRIER County, VA. about 1776. They had twelve children. I'm trying
to find descendants of these twelve children: Isaac, John, Valentine "Felty",
George Jr., Peter, Jesse, Robert, Margaret, William, James, Matthias, and
Nancy. Any info especially on Peter YOAKUM and Valentine YOAKUM would be

Hello: I am interested in finding out any information
on Allen and Nancy BULLOCK BARGER my gr-gr-grandparents. Allen BARGER was
born in Tn. ABT of 1801. Nancy was born in Tn. ABT of 1815. I don't know

My name is Victoria Hood-Wells. From information
given to me, I have come to discover that my great-great-uncle was a Bradley
County Sheriff for many years. His name was either Syne or Zyne Hood. This
would have been approximately 75-80 years ago. I also know that his father's
name was Tate Hood. Any additional information that you might be able to
uncover would be greatly appreciated!

Seeking information on Delitha Emaline Stepp,
bn. in Bradley Co., April 11, 1830; married George W. "Rory" Elemore, 1847,
also in Bradley Co., moved to Texas Co. ca. 1850. She died there Dec. 1, 1898.

I am looking for any information on Noah R. SMITH
who came to Cleveland around 1835. His wife's first name was Fidila. I would
appreciate any help in determining Fidila's maiden name or where Noah came
from. Fidila is buried in the Funderburg Cemetery. Noah and Fidila were

were William BRYMER born in 1774 and died there at the age of seventy-five.
A son, Amos R. BRYMER was born in 1813 and was the father of seven children:

My great-great grandfather was Davis Priddy known
to be in Tn. as early as 4-26-1841 when he bought land in Bradley Co. He
gave land upon which a Baptist meeting house was built in 1846 at Limestone
in Meigs Co., Tn. Have much more info to share if you are researching the
Irwin/Priddy Families.

I know him as William Andrew Jackson TOLIVER,
born after 1800 in Virginia, had children at McDonald, Bradley Co., Tennessee,
and was a farmer in Missouri. He left TN sometime between 1841, when his
daughter was born at McDonald, TN, and 1855, when he appeared in land records
at Nodaway Co., Missouri. His wife's first name was Ellen and they were
the parents of William, born about 1833 in TN; and Melissa Dinah TOLIVER,
born 28 FEB 1841 at McDonald, TN. Melissa D. TOLIVER was my maternal g-g-grandmother.
She married Tilmon BAYNE (1832-1926) in 1858 at Xenia, Nodaway Co., MO,
and they became the parents of 12 children. I will share information about
the TOLIVER and BAYNE families.

According to Book on Pioneer History of Wise County
Texas: Charles CATES Born in Upper TN 1804 was married to Narcissa Last name
unknown. They resided most of life in Bradley County until death of Charles
Cates around 1849. The book lists their children being born in Bradley County.
Can you give me any information about Charles and Narcissa CATES?
