I am looking for any relationships or information
on the Johnson families of Bradley Co. My Great Grandfather, Charlie Johnson
and his mother Ellen Branchcomb, were moved out to I.T. in late 1800's. It
has been repeated from different sources that Charlie and Ellen were Cherokee
and Charlie's father was forced off of land owned in Charleston. When they
left, one son was too sick to make the Trail, so he was left behind with the
Sims family. Charlie later married Lizzie Kitchen also from Tennessee, and
remained in Oklahoma till she died. Charlie had 11 children, one of which
is my grandmother Nellie Claire Johnson who spoke Cherokee. I have not been
able to find any information on the families other then verbal. Rumor has
it that they are related to STARR family as well. Any information that may
be given would be greatly appr.

My ancestor, Auswell Phillips, was in Bradley
Co during the mid-1800s. I have recently found notes which indicate that perhaps
his family was in "Mansel, Tennessee." I have done a global search of the
internet to try to locate Mansel but have been unsuccessful. Does anyone

Searching for Martha Isabel PENDLETON born
1858 married Samuel Harrison Branson McEwen BYRD/BIRD (born 1856) in 1873
KY. Isabel and Sam were born in Tennessee. But who is she? She told her daughter
that her mother was a Cherokee indian. I recently found a picture of another
daughter and she is most definitely indian! Also searching for John Alexander
PHILLIPS who married their daughter Ada. He was born in 1863 in Gallatin Co,
IL. But, cannot find out why as the family was alleged to have been from TN.

In the 1850 TN census index my gg grandparents,
Jesse and Matilda HARVEY MCKINNEY, (dau. of Jonathan Harvey), are found in
Hamilton Co. with their 7 children, Sarah, Lewis, Louiza/Louisa, Nancy, Sophrona,
Jonathan, and Elizabeth (my g grandmother). In the 1860 Bradley Co. TN cens
Jesse and Matilda are listed with the 4 youngest children. I am looking for
decendents of Sarah b ca 1835, Lewis b ca 1833, and Louiza/Louisa b ca 1838,

John and Patsy SWINFORD(probably born in
the 1700's, North Carolina)gave birth to Elijah SWINFORD in Polk County,
TN. Elijah (died 1870) married Celia E. GLASS (died 1863 in McMinn Co, TN).
Celia's father was James GLASS (aka James Swofford). Elijah and Celia produced
the following children: John, William (b. 1860), James (b. 1849, Polk Co.,
TN), and Mark L.(b. 1854, Benton, Polk Co., TN). James SWINFORD married Sarah
HAMILTON. James and Mark both resided in Log Hill, TN which may be near Cleveland,
Bradley Co around 1907 or so. Their children were Mary (aka Margie) (b. 1878),
Texas Ann (b. 1881), James T. (b.1884), and Rosco (b. 1890). James T. married
Minnie MCPHERSON (b. 1878,Rhea Co., TN). Their children included Walter,

I am trying to find any information I can
on a TAYLOR BELT, b. 20 Apr 1898; d. Aug 1978. His last know residence at
the time of his death was Cleveland, Bradley Co., TN. I am doing some research
on the BELT family for my daughter-in-law and am grasping at straws here.
Her great grandfather's name was TAYLOR BELT. The TAYLOR BELT mentioned above's
dob is in the right time frame for her TAYLOR BELT, who married MARIE COOK,
daughter of OLIVE LEE COOK and MYRTLE MOREE. Other siblings for MARIE COOK
are: HOMER COOK, TOM COOK, ELIZABETH COOK, and IDA COOK (who m. a MR. WEESE).
Her TAYLOR BELT supposedly had a sister PHYLISS BELT. Any information anyone

County, Tennessee. James Miller would have been the son of Joseph and Elizabeth

Alice Texas HAYES is listed as an heir in probate papers from Bradley Co.
for James DOBBS who died 1872. James had a daughter Martha Clarinda (b.
1839)who married Franklin HAYSE/HAYES in 1865 in Bradley County. In 1880,
Martha & Franklin (an innkeeper)were in McMinn Co. with daughters Martha
(16), Bessie (13)& Emma (10). It has been suggested that Alice Texas
was the daughter of Clarinda HAYES, I am seeking proof of that fact.

I am looking for info on the family of Mary Rebecca BYRD WAGNER, Naomi Ruth
COOPER WAGNER, T
John Henry GOFF was born 1835, Census say in Bradley County, TN. His Father
was Isham GOFF, born 1809 in North Carolina. Other children born to Isham
were William R. GOFF 1838, TN, married to Mary COOK after his death she
remaried a Mr. MOTON in 1871; David Daniel GOFF 1849 born in Illinois. Since
Bradley Co. was Indian Lands until 1838 and John Henry born in 1835, does
any one know what district would have handled civil matters and/or land
records. Also were there census information for the Indian Land? Thank you

I am trying to find my g grandfather who lived in Bradley Co. during the
l850s and 60s. His name was Felix Grundy CATE (called Grundy). He married
Sarah Elizabeth TOPPINS about l850 and had three children. He enlisted in
the Confederate Army in Cleveland in l862 and died shortly after??? Any
help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to find information on my g grandfather. His name was Felix Grundy
CATE(called Grundy) He was born about l836 and died about l863. He was married
to Sarah Elizabeth TOPPINS. I cannot find him in any family records and I
am beginning to think he was either Cherokee or Melungeon. Any help you
can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Trying to establish which Parsons sons were part of what Civil War units.
Two of the sons were Confederate and one was Union. We think John Parsons
was the one with the Union army. The other brothers were William Parsons,
David Parsons, George W. Parsons. There are other brothers but, they were
too young. They were all from Cleveland, Bradley Co., Tennessee. Thanks

James Dobbs lived in Bradley County, TN from the 1830s until his death in
the 1870s. His name appears on a map on the wall in the Cleveland Public
Library. I am hoping to find someone to tell me if this map can be copied,
or if copies exist and are for sale. Any help would be great. When we visited
the library a few years ago, we were unable to purchase this map. Thanks

11/13/1915. She married Columbus McEwen Johnston and lived in Bradley County.
She and Mac are buried in Fort Hill Cemetery in Cleveland, TN.

Am interested in knowing about my ggmother and ggfather -- Jeremiah Jenkins
and his wife Alice Mullinax. I know they had the following children: Lucy
(b Nov. 19, 1890 in Cleveland, Tenn., Elbert Jenkins, b abt 1872 in Tenn.,
Melvin Lee b May 1894, and Jesse James b Feb 1897 in Tenn. My grandmother

Looking
for the husband of Lucinda TIBBS, found her on the 1850 Bradley Co. census,
no mention of her husband. Her children were Luke, Deliah and W.H. TIBBS.
Was she indeed related to William, Elizabeth, Philadelphia, and Virginia
TIBBS. Was Lucinda related to Col. W.H. TIBBS???? Any info on him would be

I
am searching for the Thomas Riddle gravesite which my grandmother told me
was located 4 miles west of Cleveland, TN before she died. He was born before
the Revolutionary war and died August, 1859. He had numerous brothers and
sisters and his father was also named Thomas Riddle. He came from Scotland
and was hung in the Revolutionary War. I have found the gravesites of three
of his siblings but his would be special as he is my great great great
great grandfather. Thank-you.

for Joseph MAHAN b. bet 1828/1832 in either TN or NC. Married Elizabeth 'Betsy"
CLENDENON in 1852. 2nd wife a Nancy "Ann" SKILLINGTON.I may have him located
in Polk Co TN in 1860. One or the other was allegedly Cherokee. Research
tends to confirm this but no documentation has been located as of yet.

am of Cherokee descent and can trace back through my Dawes enrolled grandfather,
Andrew Sanders, and my great-grandfather Joseph McLain. I'm stuck on trying
to find the ancestors of Jesse McLain, who married a Cherokee woman, Caroline
Catron and who lived on Chatata Creek at the time of the removal, I believe.
Also, I'm stuck on ancestors of Samuel Ballard who married a Cherokee woman,
Susie Wolf. He sold holdings in Red Clay TN and Shoemach, GA before Removal.

He worked for the city as a street sweeper in early 1900's. Mary Louella

looking for parents, both born in GA, of William P. BRYANT, my g-grandfather,
born 25 Dec., 1826 in Habersham Co., GA. By 1847 he was a blacksmith who
enlisted in the army for the Mexican War at Calhoun, TN. In 1850 he married
Icie Ann McCARTY in Bradley Co. and lived in Charleston, TN until his death
in 1906. He was widowed in 1862 and married Malissa ALEXANDER in 1863.
Other family names associated with him are McCLATCHEY, AIKIN, KNIGHT, and
