On the 1880 census for Carroll County, there is a F. and M.P. MCMACKINS. I am hoping this stands for Frank and Martha. Does anyone have more information on this census? Search for the Frank McMackin family. Lyda Florence was born in Carroll County in 1881. She had two sisters, one being Camilee who married a Roberts. The other sister, Jettie married a Butler. Jettie had a daughter named Jewell. Jettie and her husband got divorced and the father put the daughter Jewell in Catholic Convent. Jettie died in 1938 and is buried in the Hollywood? Cemetery. A Mrs. Jack Smith, daughter of Camilee signed the death certificate as informant. I do not find Frank McMackins or his three daughters on the census around 1880. Frank married Martha Eldner? spelling may not be correct. Would appreciate any information.

My father James Rual Smith was born in Yuma, TN 25 Sept 1929 his father's name was Felix Allen Smith (birthdate and place unknown), I would like to find out how I should start my search for preceding generations, I know that my grandmother was named Vade Victory (birthdate and place unknown, no known middle name) and she had at least 3 other sons prior to my father, one by a previous husband named Traywick (no known first name.) My problem is that everyone is now passed on and there were no family bibles and I am the youngest of my father's children. I would appreciate an idea of just where to find my great-grandparents (names, birthdates and the like) any help would be most generous. On 25 Oct 1873 Winnie married Edward Watson in Carroll Co. Their daughter Eliza Jane was born 4 Aug 1874 in Carroll Co and in 1880 census of Benton Co. Winnie and Jane ages 31 and 5, were in the household of Julius Cole. Eliza Jane married Levi Marcus Williams in Carroll Co. on 24 Jan 1891. WILSON, and ROACH Families - My Gfather, Joseph L. WILSON B: 1861 in MacKenzie, Carroll County, TN. His Father was Franklin Wilson, Mother Elizabeth ROACH. Their children were: Mary, Joe, Charles Robert, Samuel, and Narcissa.
Joseph married Annie Blackburn and moved to Lonoke County Arkansas with the J D Blackburn family. Annie and their infant son died in 1888 in Lonoke County. I am told that Joseph was educated at a College in Carroll county. (Probably Bethel College because his Uncle John N Roach was the first president of that school) Joe taught pinmanship in Texas until he returned to marry Annie. After Annie died he moved on to Saline County, Arkansas and established the small postoffice and settlement called Grape. I have some books from Carroll county up to 1860 and have found some of these people listed. What I don't know is; Franklin must have died about 1859 but have not found anything about him or Elizabeth after 1870. 1870 Census shows Elizabeth as head of household. VINSON/CAMPBELL/HOBBS/ I am trying to find more informatin on William Vinson/Vincent, b1793 in NC, His wife Ruth. One of his oldest sons Pleasant Anderson was born in AL, 1825, he was in Hopkins Co. KY., in 1830, and in lived in Carroll and Gibson Co. Tn. until his death around 1865. William traveled with Richerson & Merriman Vinson. According to the 1840 census he had another son (name unknown) around the same age of Pleasant. possibly Thomas, that married Mary Fuller, Thomas and Mary were married in Maury Co, TN., and also in Carroll Co. TN. Pleasant married Mary Hobbs in 1849, and she died in 1850, he then married Ellen Campbell. I would appreciate any help.

I am looking for information on the Dolen Family that lived at the foot of Bays Mountain. That Dolen was Timothy Dolen from Shaftesbury, Dorset co. England and moved to Salisbury ,Nc. in 1752. Then in 1825 moved to Sullivan Co. Kingsport area.I've got some information that came from the Dowland side that is also part of the family. I'm looking for why two of the brothers left and moved to Texas? They were Rufus Dolen and Isaac Shaver Dolen (my side). These two families did not keep in touch after they moved here. Only Isaac and his grand-kids knew them and of that bunch only one aunt is alive. I'm also looking for links to the Civil War and what parts they may have had.

KEE- Trying to obtain info on Wm. R. Kee b. 1836 Carroll Co. married 1862 Benton Co. His father was Wm. Kee b. 7/26/1813 d. 10/31/93 Carroll Co. William R. is the brother of Sarah Ann Kee who married Alfred DILL. Trying to find the names of Wm. R. KEE's children. I believe he had a son, William A. KEE b. 3/26/69. This Wm. A. KEE married Nancy GRIMES. The family later moved to Manila, AR. I found a grave for a Rachael KEY b. 2/1/45 - d. 12/16/16 in the family graveyard but don't know if she is the wife of William. Would appreciate any information anyone could give me.

I am lokinf for any information or direction on finding out about my granfather,JAMES SMYTHE.BORN DECEMBER 24, late 1800 or early 1900. He lived an orphanage in MCKENZIE, TENNESSEE.Iam not really sure where to start. I dont have alot of background information on him. He married ANNE ROUCHE,I believe she was from SHREVEPORT LA. jAMES AND ANNE had four children,BETTY SMYTHE who is my mother,SIDNEY,EVA, and ROBERT who I believe had a different father than the other three children. So the only infi I have is JAMES SMYTHE, BORN DECEMBER 24,1887-1907. Grew up in an orphanage possibly in MCKENZIE,TN. Allen Alford CARROLL was known to have lived on Spring Creek in Hardeman County, TN in 1828. Known siblings were Samuel Thompson CARROLL born in 11-29-1831 and Laura CARROLL.

I am looking for information comcerning Kenneth and Christain McKenzie. They were natives of SC. They moved to Tennessee and then to Alabama. They were from a very large and wealthy family. I believe Kenneth may be a son of John McKenzie who founded or help found the town of McKenzie. I am looking for information on the families of my great-great-grandparents, Adam Preston Capps born in Weakley Co. TN and Dosha Eve Boaz of Carroll Co. TN. Adam was the son of J. J. Capps and Ancafire Robinson; Dosha's father was T. S. Boaz. I do not know her mother's name nor do I have any vital information on any of these individuals. Any information would be appreciated.
