My great-great-grandmother Jane HISAW m. John POPE (records say POLK) in Carroll County in the 1840's. Her mother was Martha HISAW who m. John STEPHENSON in the 1830's. Does anyone know where the HISAWs come from or where they went. Jane and John Pope ended up in Stoddard County, Missouri in the 1860's. But where did the Hisaw family come from? Searching for information on George SHAW, b. 1822 in TN, married Sarah Morris about 1848 in McNairy Co., TN. They had two children there before moving to Illinois and shortly later to Missouri. George is likely the son of John and Elizabeth Shaw who were living in Carroll County, TN. in 1830. George's siblings were William. Aaron, Nancy, Jesse, and others. Sarah Morris was b. in 1833 in Tennessee and was likely a full or half blood native american. Her parents are unknown, but they may have lived in the same places.

I am Seeking info on the McAULY (later spelled McCAULEY) from Carroll County. Samuel b. abt. 1833 TN and Emily (Emilie) b. 1849 TN were in the 18th Civil District in 1870 and 1880. Children include Colognna (Colonna), Columbus, Alex, James, Leroy, Ida and Darda. There are other relatives in the area (according to 1870 census).
