McGILL. Seeking information on the parents of Peterson McGILL, Eli Taylor McGILL, Isaac
McGILL and Joel McGILL, who appear to be brothers, based upon a series of land transactions
between them conducted in the late 1840's in Giles County. Peterson lived his entire life in the
Giles County vicinity. In the 1840-1880 census records, he was living in the following
counties:Lawrence(TN), Limestone(AL), Limestone(AL), Giles(TN) and Lauderdale(AL).
Peterson was married four times:th Mahala LONG of Giles Co.; to Oda MARBUT of Giles
County; to Sarah Sherwood of Giles Co., and to Catherine Daly of Limestone Co. He had 17
children between 1836 and 1878, the oldest of whom was Robert McGill, who married Laura
? in Giles Co. in the late 1850's. Eli Taylor McGill was living in the Gaston Hollow area of
Limestone County in 1849, at which time he married a Sarah MEALS. Eli McGill and Isaac
McGill had moved to West Tennessee (Henderson- Carroll Co.
areas) by the 1850 census. No
mention of Joel has been found in census records. Peterson McGill, who was b. abt. 1816 in
TN, said his parents were from Alabama- only there was no Alabama prior to 1818. Any help in
solving this mystery would be most appreciated. I have numerous decendents of Peterson, plus
a 40+ page document relating to Eli which I can share. THANKS!

Hello Carroll County, My surname is WRAY - have many
ancestors buried in Carroll County
and the close-by counties. Many of my relatives whom I have not met are now residing in the
area or near-by. My GGG GrandMother Mary Palmer Wray - along with her two WRAY sons -
Laban Palmer Wray and Moses Palmer Wray came into Carroll
County in the early 1800's . She
also had with her one or two of her three daughters from her first mar. to Thomas Cardwell in
Va. Her second husband William Wray is the father of the two Wray sons and seems to have
either d. or stayed in Va. (That is a mystery that is being worked on)I would like very much to
have contact with any of the relatives of these Wray and Cardwell decendants. Have a rather
large data-base on computer - willing to share with relatives - may be able to put them in contact
with other relatives. Thank you very much and please E-Mail me privately. We live in
Oklahoma. E-mail ad: garywray@ix.netcom.com Gary and Delorise
