Elishas's family lived next door to Josephine's family (the BLAIRs), whom he later married. They farmed between 100 to 500 acres in Carroll County. Elisha died and was buried at Carroll County; Old Pleasant Hills Cemetery; near Cedar Grove, TN. There are no headstone marker to identify his final resting place. He married Josephine Isabella BLAIR, daughter of William BLAIR & Margaret (BLAIR), 5 Feb 1846 in Carroll Co, TN. Born 1830 in North Carolina. Died in Faulkner Co; Greenbriar, AR. Buried in Faulkner Co; Thorn Cemetery; Greenbriar, AR. The Blairs came to North Carolina from England. Then they migrated to Carroll County, TN. My great grandmother is Bertha Barnett. She was born 1884/85 in Tenn. I have found her marriage certificate in Madison Cty 1/22/1902 married to Sam Stegall. I also found a Bertha Barnett in Carroll Cty in the 1900 census who I believe is the same Bertha Barnett. I found her living with a William P. Jacobs in district 1, enumeration district 122, sheet 3, line 42. I have also written that I have found it on microfilm#1248561. I however have not been able to positively identify this as the same person. I do not have a photocopy of this census. Bertha is suppose to have siblings of James and Pearl. I was looking for any help on this.

I am seeking information on ELI T. MCGILL (maybe Eli F.)in order to try and identify the parents of his brother (and my ancestor) Peterson McGill. Eli was a resident of Carroll County in the 1870 census, along with his wife Sarah Meals McGill and several children. Eli married Sarah in Lawrence Co., AL in 1849. He was apparently a prominent businessman in the Carroll County area. In the after- math of the Civil War, he filed a claim with the Southern Claims Commission seeking damages for losses to Federal Troops during the war. In his claim his residence (circa 1875) was given as Davidson County. Any information on Eli or especially his parents would be MOST appreciated.
