Where can I locate the vital statistic records for time dating back to the early 1700s before pioneers moved to Grainger County, (Clinch River/north end). John Arnwine, Sr. lived near Rutledge (in Puncheon Camp) in 1796. He had a son born in 1786 (Albartus Arnwine and a brother John Arnwine, Jr. (John Senior fought in the Revolutionary War, Captain, and he was also a minister of the gospel an or justice of the peace). I realize that Grainger Co., was formed from Hawkins County in 1796, however, I am having difficulty locating a marriage license, for John Arnwine Sr., a birth certificate for his sons, or a death certificate. I do know that the family was buried in the "Arnwine Cemetery" in Grainger. Could you possibly give me the location of that cemetery and who I can contact to canvass the cemetery, or has some information regarding how to go about locating the tombstones of the family members burid there.. Please let me know what you have available regarding the history of Grainer County in the early years (1796 and earlier). I am also interested in immigration records. I am also interested in the Winston Adkins family of the same area. Winston Died in 1833 in Grainger County His wife was Moriah. Looking for information on parents of Jesse STEPHENS b: abt 1786 in North Carolina. Married to Permelia FRITH, daugh of Henry and Narcissa _____ FRITH. My great grandfather William STEPHENS was b: 1831, Claiborne Co., TN. In 1830 Jesse and Permelia STEPHENS were in Lee Co., VA where Henry FRITH was residing, with an Abner, Larkin and Isiah STEPHENS were residing in Claiborne Co., along with a John STEPHENS, Who was possibly there father. In 1840, Jesse, Larkin, Abner and Isiah STEPHENS were all in Lawrence Co., IN, living next door to one another. Abner and Isiah STEPHENS stayed in Indiana with Jesse STEPHENS going to Livingston Co., MO by 1849 where Henry FRITH WAS living. It has been said that Larkin may have gone to Georgia. Jesse lived to be 100 years old and died in Livingston Co., MO. Any help appreciated.

Seek data on parents of Susannah Sawyer Vanderpool who resided in Claiborne CO Tn in early 1800s. SHe attended the Davis Creek Baptist church. There was a John Saywer living near her on the 1830 census that might have been a brother. It is said that Susannah's husband, Samuel Vanderpool, was killed by another man. Cannot find any reference to that, and no reference to him after 1832.

Would appreciate any information on John Rogers (The Powdermaker). Born in the 1750's, lived in Wythe County, Va. and moved to Tennesee by 1791. Died in Claiborne County, Tenn. Family tradition has always said that he was the father of Jesse Green Rogers. I am trying to find out if this is in fact the case. He had 3 or 4 wives, 20 sons and 1 daughter. He died Jan. 5, 1822. Jesse Green Rogers married in 1812 to Elizabeth Evans we believe. The only son of Jesse Green Rogers that we know of is William (Mack) Rogers.

I am currently researching my family history. I am looking for any info of a Jefferson Cole (wife Jamima), Matt Cole, Martha Cole, and their Mother Elizabeth. They were in Jefferson County, TN in 1860-70. I am also looking for a Jacob Cody (in Cocke Co, TN in 1850). James Perry Owensby was born in this general area in 1846. William Henry Harp (wife Mara Wilson) was in the Claiborne Co area. Tobias Harp (wife Delilah Carroll) was also in this area. The year would be 1800? Need information on parents of my grandparents J. M. RICE and VINA GRIFFIN. Also need info on their marriage in about 1902 in Claiborne Co. He is listed in the 1910 census in Claiborne as Jepta and in the 1900 census as Jepter. I have not found him in the 1880 census. He may have been an only child and have lost his parents before adulthood. I know nothing about her parents , but she apparently had at least two sisters Daisy Browning and Kitty Suffrage (Sufferage?).
