Obituary H T Underwood

 

DICKSON HERALD- June 1912 Sylvia News (Tells of

 

 H. T. Underwood, aged 75years, highly respected of this community,  died at his home here last Wednesday. He was feeling good Wednesday morning  and worked in his yard, raking and burning leaves, until about eleven o'clock. On going to the house he informed his wife that he was feeling as well and he laid down on the bed. He died within a short time.

He is survived by his wife, Maggie Johnston Underwood, and one son, W. H. Underwood , of Dickson, also two grandsons and five nieces. He was the last survivor of this generation of Underwoods. Three brothers and a sister have died here within recent years. He moved here about forty years ago from Kentucky and entered the mercantile business soon after coming here. His desire was not to make a fortune, but an honest living ; his slogan was to make everything "pan out." 

He was a member of the Church of Christ. Funeral service was conducted Thursday afternoon by Elder A. J. Backman and his remains were entered in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, a large assemblage of friends being present for the last sad rites.

Mrs. J. A. Sheley and children and Mr. and Mrs T.P. Powers, of Paris,

  attended the funeral of theiw uncle, H.T. Underwod,  last THursday afternoon.
