JOHN ANDERSON

1758-1836

John Anderson was born 30 July 1758 in Frederick County , Virginia .  In 1777, he joined Captain Farran's Company as a Private in the Virginia Line.  This Revolutionary War service earned him a pension, #W884.  According to these pension papers, his war service included guarding German prisoners at Fort Frederick , Maryland and delivering supplies to South Carolina .  On 3 August 1784 , he married Ann Clark, probably in South Carolina where he moved after the war.  They then moved to Logan County , Kentucky for three years, and then to Davidson County , Tennessee .  John Anderson owned property in Davidson and Williamson Counties , Tennessee and lived along the Brush Creek and Turnbull Creek areas following the Davidson/Williamson County line.  John Anderson died 12 March 1836 in Davidson County .  His will may be found in Davidson Co TN Will Book 11, page 21.  Ann Clark Anderson died in 1838 in Davidson Co TN.

Summerfield Anderson married John Hannah, son of Joseph and Betsey Hannah.  John Hannah's sister, Susannah, married first William Kellam and married second, Allen Thompson, also a descendant of Neil Thompson.  Other sisters also married close neighbors:  Patsy Hannah married John Exum and Ann Hanna married Thomas Scott.  All are related by later marriages of their children.  Aris Bowden Luther was the son of John and Laura ( Anderson ) Luther and married Eudora Thompson, granddaughter of William and Mary (Scott) Thompson, brother and sister of Allen Thompson and Thomas Scott.  All of these families resided in the Turnbull Creek drainage in the vicinity of Kingston Springs or in the Brush Creek drainage extending south into Williamson County .

There were several land sales between these Anderson and Thompson families in the Turnbull/Brush Creek area.  These also involved the Landrum property that was also located near Kingston Springs.

Possible related marriages in Davidson County include:

Polly Anderson married 18 Oct 1810 to Shepard Landrum.

Levi Anderson married Polly Landrum 17 Sep 1810.
