FRANKLIN COUNTY, TENNESSEE
GENEALOGY

franklin

Franklin County is not to be confused with the "State of Franklin," which was formed before statehood or with "Franklin, TN" in Williamson County. The county seat for Franklin *County* Tennessee is Winchester.

Franklin County is located in Middle Tennessee, one of the state's three grand divisions." Franklin County was formed 3 December 1807 from White County (see Franklin County, Tennessee History) and is located about half way between Chattanooga, Nashville and Huntsville. Historians report that Franklin County came off Bedford, however, Bedford was also formed on 3 December 1807. We are looking for any acts for the establishment of the county of Franklin.
