JOHN L. BAUGH, an enterprising farmer, residing five, miles south of Pulaski, in the Eighth District of Giles County, was a native of Williamson County, Tenn., born in 1841, and of German descent. His parents, Philip and Elizabeth Baugh, were natives of Tennessee, and were considered first-class citizens. Our subject secured a good education, and has been from early boyhood actively engaged in farming. In l867 he was married to Mary D. Wilkins, and to them was born one child, a daughter, Annie. The mother of this child died in 1869, and in 1871 he wedded Docia Reed, who died in the fall of the same year. In 1874 he was again married to Lucy R. Grigsby, and this union resulted in the birth of two children. The family is consistent members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. Mr. Baugh is a Democrat and a member of the F. & A. M. fraternity. In 1869 he moved to where he now resides, on 310 acres of excellent land, well improved. He is a rather successful man in all his undertakings, and is regarded as a prosperous and industrious farmer. (Goodspeed's History of Giles County, 1886)
