Larkin CLEVELAND, d 9 Jul 1814, Giles County (date not yet confirmed); was on the 1777 Surry County, North Carolina Tax List. 1812 Giles County, Tennessee Tax List. He was the brother of Col. Benjamin CLEVELAND of Wilkes County, North Carolina, and was wounded en route to the battle of Kings Mountain Sep 1780. He was residing in Franklin County, Georgia when he purchased land on Polk's Creek in Giles county from William POLK in 1810, and was deceased by Sep 1814 when his will was proven by the oaths of witnesses Thomas LANE, Martin LANE and James PERRY (sources to be added). According to Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots, Daughters of the American Revolution, Ref 42, Col. Larkin CLEVELAND was buried at Buford Station, Giles County.

Wife of John Edward Morriss. Descendant of Lieut. Larkin Cleveland and of Maj. Robert Lide, as follows: 1. William Calloway Cleveland (1834-99) m. 2nd 1870 Frances Cornelia Lide (1847-79). 2. Carter Harrison Cleveland (1795-1864) m. 1816 Mary Smith (1799-1880); David Robert Lide (1805-74) m. 2nd 1846 Louise Dubose Miller (1820-76). 3. Larkin Cleveland m. 1772 Frances ——— (1756-1836); James Lide (1770-1855) m. 1793 Jane Holloway (1778-1862). 4. Robert Lide m. 2nd 1760 Susan Kolb (1736-89). Larkin Cleveland (1748-1814) was lieutenant under his brother, Col. Benjamin Cleveland. He was born in Culpeper County, Va.; died in Giles County, Tenn. Robert Lide (1734-1802) served with distinction as major under General Marion. He was born in Roanoke, Va.; died in Darlington, S. C.
