Joel Hurt heirs to Harman Hurt

This indenture made & entered into this the seventh day of September in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred & thirty-nine Between Hempley Hurt, John Hurt, Hardin Hurt, Jesse Carter, Jinsey Carter, Thomas Johnson, Susannah Johnson, Daniel Collie and Sall y Collie, Heirs of Joel Hurt Deceased of the one part and Harman H. Hurt of the other part all being of the county Henderson & State of Tennessee. Witnesseth that the above named heirs on their part for and in consideration of the sum of three Hundred Do llars in hand paid, the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath Bargained, sold...& confirmed unto the said Harman H. Hurt all and severally and each of us all our Right, Title, Claim & interest in & to the following Described parcel or tract of Land lying and situate in the county and state above named bounded as follows (viz) Situate in the 9th Surveyors district on Jacks Creek Range 4 Section 7 and Beginning on a poplar 40 poles South of the North East corner of entry No. 1430 for 35 Acres in the name of Madison Gilcrist thence East 40 poles to a stake thence north 127 poles to a sweet gum and poplar on the south boundary line of Entry no 314 for 200 Acres Thence West with sd line crossing Jack Creek at eight poles in all 60 poles to a white oak t he north East corner of John Purdys Entry no 1557 for 15 Acres thence South with sd line to the South East corner of the same 35 poles to a holly thence west with said line 34 1/2 poles to a Dogwood & hickory Thence South 52 poles to a hickory on the Nort h boundary line of Entry no 1430 thence East 54 1/2 poles to its corner thence south 40 poles to the beginning containing 50 Acres and 130 poles And also one other tract or parcel of land being in the state and county aforesaid situate in the 9th Surveyo rs district on the Waters of Jack Creek Range 4 Section 7th and bounded as follows Beginning on a black oak & hickory 35 poles north and 20 poles east of the north East corner of John Greer's entry no 717 for 243 3/4 Acres thence East 80 poles to a black oak thence north 70 poles to a stake thence west 80 poles to a black gum and hickory thence south 70 poles to the beginning containing 35 Acres To have & to hold the above recited tracts or parcels of land with all the appertenances thereto belonging to t he sd Harmon H. Hurt his heirs & assigns for ever And we the above named heirs for ourselves and our Executors, Administrators or Assigns do covenant and agree to and with the said H. H. Hurt his heirs, executors, administrators or Assigns the above recit ed lands & Bargained premises and the Appertainences. we will warrant and defend right, title, claim and interest or demand of all and every other person or persons whatever in testimony where of we have here unto set our hands & seals the day and date a bove written.
