GGGrandfather and GGGrandmother who lived a long time in Scotts
Hill,TN. and are buried in Scotts Hill Methodist cemetary. Their
names were Van TUCKER 1863-1953 & Anna TUCKER 1864-1917. They had

Hello, I'm an African American descendant of "Frank Laster" who was
born somewhere in the state of Tennessee. He is listed on the 1880
Soundex living in Marshall, Texas, age 55 and married to "Mahaley
Callaway." I believe, he may have been a slave to Anglo Slave-owners
with the same surname of Laster. Any information would be appreciated.

I am searching for a Sarah ? who married Yerby (Erby/Irby) LINGO.
They are my great-great grandparents. They moved from Henderson
County to Texas where my great grandfather was born back to southwest
Arkansas, Pike County. I believe he met and possibly married Sarah.
Yerby's family moved from North Carolina to Hardin County, TN where
they lived for a while. I found Yerby in Henderson County around
1840 married with children. I would appreciate if anyone is out
there that knows about Sarah.

Isaac born 14 Aug.1799 N.C. died 20 May 1884 Henderson Co.,TN.
Sarah, last name unknown, born 9 Jan.1802, died 28 Oct.1883 Henderson
Co.,TN. They are buried at Ridleys Chapel Cemetery.
I would like to find where in N.C. they came from, the maiden name of

available concerning my 6-greats grandfather, Major David WILSON.
Born in Penn. in 1752? and emigrated with family to Mecklenburg
County, North Carolina. Served as Major during American Revolution,
Speaker of the House of Representatives for Territory South of the
Ohio River, staunch Scotch-Irish Presbyterian, Jeffersonian
Republican, called to ratify United States Constitution for North
Carolina, owned plantation and approxiametely 40,000 acres in Sumner
County, Tennessee, Wilson County, Tennessee named in his honor. My
branch of his family later moved to northeastern Henderson County,
Tennessee and persisted their as modest farmers. His son William
Wilson-Archibald Wilson-Nathan Cecil Wilson (family moved to Bootheel
of Missouri after Civil War) who left son Zachary Taylor Wilson with
his grandmother, a Derryberry. Son of Zachary Taylor Wilson was Odie

George W. JOHNSON (a.k.a. G.W. and Geo W. and George Washington
JOHNSON) of Eastern Henderson County is shown with a Shady Hill
address in 1860. He was born in 1810 in South Carolina and in 1860
owned 8 slaves and considerable acreage. He was a staunch Democrat
supporting the Southern cause during the Civil War. I am attempting
to locate a record of Confederate service, militarily or
governmental. He might have served in an Alabama or Mississippi
company. Since he was wealthy and fifty years old in 1860, he most
likely served in a cavalry unit. I am also looking for the record of
his death. He is present on the Henderson County Census of 1870 and
1880, but disappears after this. Could he have emigrated to Arkansas,
Texas, Oklahoma or beyond? Also, can help provide information on
Myracle, Zimerlee, and Wilson families of Eastern Henderson County.
Also would be interested in responses from black descendants of my
family's slaves.

Samuel CRAFFORD (CRAWFORD) MILLER/1810-1864 TN
Samuel CRAFFORD MILLER, was born 15 Mar, 1810,
somewhere in TN; died 10 Nov, 1864, Johnsonville, Humphreys Co., TN.
He m ca 1833 MARIA(H) GRIGG(S), dau.
of Lee & Agatha SYKES GRIGG(S), probably in Carroll
Co., TN. This couple lived for a number of years in Henderson
Co., TN, in the Wilderville area.
The information I have on Samuel is that he was the son of Samuel
& Martha CRAFFORD (CRAWFORD) MILLER, who m in
Mecklenburg Co. NC, 1798. Martha was the daughter of
James & Jennet HUTCHINSON CRAFFORD (CRAWFORD). The information I have says that Samuel & Martha MILLERdied while
Samuel Crafford MILLER was still a child. A grandfather, named
Frederick MILLER, supposedly raised Samuel C. They ended up in
Humphreys Co., Tn. The 1850 and 1860 Henderson Co. census
shows Samuel to have been born in Tn.
I know that several of the Crawford families moved to Maury
Co., TN., about 1800.

Is there anyone out there who knows the wife/wives of John and/or
James HOUSTON, the two older brothers of General Sam HOUSTON. My
wife is supposedly descended from one of them. We have a wife of
Mary ALBERT(S), for whichever one we are looking for. The family
seems to think that James is the right brother, and supposedly says
that James was named Thomas James HOUSTON, hating the first name
Thomas, and only going by James, and a birth year of 1789. We show
his brother John as born in 1790. The family says that 1790 is the
birthdate of our HOUSTON, which seems to make me think that it is
probably John. The right ancestor will have at least two sons,
Andrew Jackson HOUSTON, born in 1809 (possibly in Kentucky), marrying
Nancy LOGSDON; and George HOUSTON, born around 1811, (possibly KY,
TN, or even NC) marrying Mary Louise KIRBY. We have been unable to
find ANYTHING on either of these two, subsequent to their mention in
Rev. S. R. Houston's book, "Brief Biographical Accounts... Please

For Sue Bates: I am Wortham L Barnes a first cousin to Jeff Barnes.
His grandparents were Junie (Caviness) Rainey & Horace Rainey. I
remember that Jeff (J. W.) Barnes' mother was Hazel Rainey & she had
at least 2 brothers, Frank & Ed. Hazel married S.L.(BOSS) Barnes,
who is my uncle. J.W. married Louise Mangrum and they have a daughter

Can anyone identify the location of either a LOVELACE or COLLINS
family cemetery in Henderson, Tennessee.. Thomas LOVELACE died on May
17, 1851 and his burial plot may well be in Henderson County. His
second wife was Nancy COLLINS, who is a daughter of Peter COLLINS and
Susanna MEADORS COLLINS. Nancy COLLINS was born April 4, 1801 and
died Oct 1, 1856. Thomas LOVELACE was born Nov 282, 1776 and married
July 22, 1836; Peter COLLINS was born Oct 20, 1774, died April 2,

In Sep. 1843 Samuel PEARCE wrote a letter to his brother Ira in South
Mills, NC and mentioned that their sister Polly had married John H.
HODGIN, a widower with four children. They had married in March and
were living five miles west of Lexington in Henderson Co. Samuel
lived in Mifflin which was then part of Henderson Co. I am looking

present in the 1850 census of Decatur Co. J.S. was married to
Ruthetta GRAVES, probably in Ohio. Their children are born in Ohio,

later moved to Haywood County, TN. His father, Albert Jesse COZART

I am looking for information on James G. MORRIS, who I believe to be
the son of Harvey MORRIS. James married Mahala BENSON, the dau. of
Levin BENSON. He was in the 1840 census in Carrol Co. He was in the
1850 and 1860 census in Henderson Co. He died before the spring term
of court in 1861. I can't find where he or his wife are buried.

I am looking for information on Harvey MORRIS who is the son of Aaron
MORRIS, and the brother of Joseph M. MORRIS. Harvey was born in
N.C., c1790. He came to Carrol Co. from New Bern, N.C. around 1830
on a wagon train with his brother Joseph, and the settled in Shilo
around Birdsong creek. He had two son named John and Jim. I believe
Jim to be my ggg g/f James G. MORRIS. It was said that Harvey had
scouted for Andrew Jackson, any he had been in this part of Tn.
before. Harvey's wife was named Mary?

Seeking info. on William Porter WARD b.1879-80, m. 1905 to Emma Pearl
AUSTIN (1885-1967) Scotts Hill, Henderson Co. William Porter's mother
was Annie L. JOHNSON WARD. Siblings were Benjamin F. James A., &
Elizabeth. The 1900 census shows Annie & children in Henderson Co.
The 1910 & 1920 censuses show Wm. Porter & Pearl in Bemis, Madison
Co. Annie & her other children were also in Bemis, though Annie died
in 1914. Her death record lists S. Johnson as her father. I need to
find the full names of Annie's parents and of her husband, whose
surname was WARD. By 1940 Wm Porter & Pearl were in Humboldt, Gibson
Co. Their children: Pauline, David, Fern, Ernest, Hugh. Pearl died
in 1967. I seek her place of burial. I also need death date & burial
place for Wm. Porter WARD.

My Grandfather Thomas Watt BROOKS was born in Perry County, TN in
1914. His father was Robert Jason BROOKS who is buried at Crossroads
Cemetary in Parsons, TN. His father's name is Jason P. BROOKS listed
in the 1920 census as a farmer/preacher. Robert Jason BROOKS had a
sister named Bessie BROOKS. She married a HENDRICKS/HENDRIX not
sure of spelling. The HENDRICKS family has a big reunion every year
the first weekend of September in Jackson, TN. I would like
information about any of these people listed. I also have info that

or any McHaney from Lexington, Tennessee. It is said that Feit
McHaney was a successful businessman. Feit supposedly fathered eleven

Tn in mid-1800s from somewhere in Virginia. Wife unknown, sons: John
William 2/14/1851-5/9/1933, m. Ada Stallings from Louisiana; George F
b abt 1861; James M. b abt 1862. John William came to Beryl, Faulkner
Co, Ark; his son Henry Malvern helped found the new settlement of
Conway Ark. John William's other children were Minnie (Adams), Leona
(Hubbard) and Bess (Effland).

I have good documentation that two of Clinton BRIGANCE'S sons--
John Dixon and Jourdan/Jordan--died in the Civil War. My information
would suggest sons Henry C., James/Julius R., and
Christopher W. probably died in the war. Is this true? David served
in the war and survived. Also, why did the eldest son, Hugh C.,
enter the Union service toward the end of the war after six of his
younger brothers had served or were serving in the Confederate?
Are there any descendants of Clinton BRIGANCE still living in
Henderson Co.?

Seeking information on a VANDIVER family--believe the family of Henry VANDIVER--
who lived in the Doe Creek area in the 1870's and 1880's. They had two daughters,
Nannie and F. E. who married brothers. Nannie married Sylvester GURLEY,
and F. E. married his brother Robert W."Bob". R. W. and F. E. moved to Alabama.
Sylvester and Nannie lived in the Doe Creek area for a while; then moved to

I'm looking for descendents of the BETHUNE, BUSBY, HALE, and FIELDS
families. Allen BETHUNE moved near what is today Enville TN around
1828. In 1830 he married Henrietta BUSBY. They had ten children
including John Calvin, Malcom, Josiah, Levi, James A., Mary Ann,
Elizabeth, Newton, Henry, and Robert. John Calvin's descendents are
still living in Chester Co. TN. Other descendents have scattered
across the western portion of the US. I have found descendents of
Allen and Henrietta Bethune living today in
TN, AL, MS, OK, AR, TX, NV, NE, IA, CA, WA, OH and CO. If your name is

Thomas and Rowland GRISSOM came to Henderson County around 1836. Need
any info on these 2 men prior to their coming to Henderson Co.
Thomas married Anna BURKETT, after her death he married Mary Ann
MILLER. Rowland married Mahala PHILLIPS. Thomas was born circa 1811

Washington CAMPBELL, 1814 - 1898, who lived in Henderson County until
about 1847. He is listed in the 1840 census for Henderson County.
He married Elizabeth PATTERSON (1815-1898), daughter of Mark and Dicy
RIDDLE PATTERSON of Henderson County in 1834. In 1847, he moved his
family to Weakley County. I would like to find George Washington

My grandfather Thomas Morgan TAYLOR was born in Chesterfield or Big
Rock, Tennessee 6/20/1909. I am looking for his parents. His father
? TAYLOR, died when he was 9 mos. old. His mother Leta Ann PAGE,

Walter Howard(?)ROBERTS, b. abt 1840 in NC, m. to Jemiana C. HARRIS,
b. abt 1841 in Henderson Co., TX. - Jemiana appears as head of
household in 1870 Benton Co. census, and again in the 1880 census for
the same county, where she is married to Marion JONES, but still has
the ROBERTS children. I have been unable to locate any further info
on Walter ROBERTS. Did he serve in the Civil War? Did he die about
1870? Who were his parents? The 1850 census of Cleveland Co., NC
shows a Henderson ROBERTS with a son, Walter, age 10. Is this my

during the Civil War. Following the War he traveled just North of
Memphis and managed a Plantation owned by a widow. Do not know the
Widow's name? He was there from 1865 to 1871-72?
He returns to Henderson Co. TN by 1873, marries Rebbeca Blackwell and
has 1st child in 1874. Does anyone have info on where this plantation
might have been during this time frame or who the Widow was?

the daughter of Henry Sanders WOOD is correct, he would have been 1/2
Cherokee and his father, Jim WOOD or Jim Wood's wife (unknown) would
have been full Cherokee. Henry SANDERS was a minister and member of
the Christian Chapel Church in Henderson County, Tn. beginning in

My wife descends from a Henderson Co. BOND. Let me know if you have

Generation 1: Elisha BOND, b. 1799, SC, m. Elizabeth
Generation 2: John BOND, b. 1815, TN, m. Lucinda DERRYBERRY (her 2nd
marriage) abt 1834 (John had a brother, named William H.; 1850
Henderson Co. Census, shows children: Parlie, Catherine, Martin,
Miles, & Eliza L.)
Generation 3: Miles BOND, b. Dec 23, 1844, TN, m. Rebecca J. RENICK,
d. TX (Miles was in Wise Co. TX in 1880; served as a Texas Ranger and
probably in a Confederate unit out of Texas. Conf. pension requests
were made from Foard Co., TX by both a Miles Bond and Rebecca BOND.
Miles had 3 children: Ama P., Valmer, and Alphillus.
Generation 4: Ama P. BOND, b. abt 1867, m. Andrew Jackson KINARD in
1883 (A.J. was born in Eldorado, Union Co., Arkansas). They ended up
in Memphis, Texas where A. J. was the first mayor.
Any information you have on the BOND fam. will be deeply appreciated.

My grandfather, Isaac Fletcher MCCOLLUM, son of Samuel and Mary
MCCOLLUM and his two brothers were orphaned during the Civil War. My
grandfather was raised by Alfred W. MIDDLETON and his wife, while the
other two boys were raised by two other families, one by an uncle and
one by John MIDDLETON, brother of Alfred. Can anyone tell me if the
MIDDLETONS were related to either Samuel OR Mary (DAVENPORT)
MCCOLLUM? I can find no record to date, but there were other
relatives of Samuel in the county, besides two brothers. Possibly one
or two sisters, according to History of Scott's Hill where the above
information was obtained. Also, any other information would be
appreciated. The grave of Samuel, long believed by the family to be
near Paducah as is Mary's, is actually in Mobile, AL, where he died
enroute to Andersonville prison. He was a member of the 7th
Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry, USA.
Also any information on the name of Samuel's father would be greatly
appreciated.

Looking for information on Etheldred HOWELL b. abt 1818 lived in
Henderson County for a while - don't know how long. Married Nancy
Emiley SCOTT b. 1819. Believe she lived in Henderson County her
entire life. I have considerable information on their descendants
through the James E. HOWELL line. Thanks

I need records showing the names and information about the parents of
a John GRANT who died in Henderson Co., Tennessee 18 Feb 1850. He
married a Tabbie MARTIN in 1789 in North Carolina. They had seven
children. The first, Dock Spencer, was born in North
Carolina about 1790. The last six, Ann, John Jr., Tabitha, Lottie,
Nathan and Stephen, were born either in North Carolina or tennessee.
John GRANT served in the North Carolina Militia during the war of
1812, stationed in Ft. Hampton, N. C. from July 31 till Dec 31 1912.
It is believed that he was replaced in service by
his eldest son, Spencer, who fought in the battle of New Orleans.
The John GRANT family is listed in the 1820 census living in
Robertson Co., Tenn., the 1830 census living in Carrol Co., Tenn. and
in the 1840 census living in Henderson Co., Tenn.
Most of his children moved to Texas just before and after his death.
It is believed that John GRANT born in North Carolina or Virginia
about 1770.

I need information on Wright SPAIN who was born around 1805 in
Georgia according to the 1850 Henderson County census. His wife is
listed as Mary C. born around 1806 in North Carolina. He had at least
7 children in his family. I'm descended through the oldest child
Martha who married Elias Perry GOFF on April17,1850 in Henderson
County.Elias GOFF's father was Edmond and his mother was Jane LONG.
They both came from North Carolina to Tennessee around 1818-1820
after they were married. Any help on these people would be
appreciated.

I am looking for information on John MANNING born IE 1821 in
Henderson Co TN. I don't know too much about him. I know he lived
around the BRENT families. They traveled around together from SC TO
TN and on to Hot Springs Co., Ark. John's wife was Mary Polly BRENT.

I am looking for information on Hirum BRENT, my g-g grandfather,
born ie 1823 in Henderson Co, Tenn. He married Delisha ?. She also
born in Tenn. Their children are Mary Polly, Linzy M, Polly P, Nancy
J, Martha M, Melinda, James M, Elafair. They lived around the
MANNING families. From Tenn, they moved to Hot Springs Co, Ark. I

Nancy Jane WRIGHT, b ca 1832 d 1879. She was md 1st to John BOND who
served in the 7th TN Volunteer Cavalry, Union Army. They had four
children. Md 2nd to my gg grandfather Abraham McGee HOY. In 1860
Nancy was living in Henderson Co. with John Bond. I have been unable
to find Nancy's parents. Also, I would like to connect with all Bond
descendants.

Need the burial place of Ollia Birtha (Little Ollie) McNATT, born
June 26, l887 and died July 1, l899 in Henderson County, TN. around
Sardis. She was the child of LINDSEY RICE and ADELIA L. HAWKINS
MCNATT. After her death, her family moved to Hunt Co., Texas. Her
grandparents, Thomas and Elizabeth HAWKINS are buried in Prospect
Cemetery near Sardis, TN.

I'm looking for information on John BAILEY and his wife Jemima BURNS.
John was born in 1800 in North or South Carolina. Jemima was born in
1799 in Kentucky. John died in 1881 and Jemima died in 1855. Both are
buried at Union Hill Cemetery in Henderson County,Tennessee.I'm
descended through their son Samuel Truman BAILEY and his wife
Missouri BURNS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am interested in information related to my mother, Ruth Erah GOFF.
Her father was Hugh Albert GOFF and her mother was Minnie Daisy
MORRIS. I am especially interested in information related to the

Pheobe Wright/White? from NC, b.1818, married Hiram Pearce/Pierce
abt.1835. She is with her husband in 1850 and 1860 census of
Henderson Co. TN with her 8 kids. Need any info on her and her
parents. Only have family hearsay that she was full cherokee.

Hiram Pearce/Pierce from NC, married Pheobe Wright? also NC
moved to Henderson Co. TN by 1836, where they are found until 1860,
on census with 8
kids: Mima, John, William, Aaron, Jane, Joseph, Pheobe, Sarah all b.
Henderson Co. I lost them following 1860, could be in Chester Co?

I'm looking for information concerning John B. WALLACE. He was born
in North Carolina in 1816 and died in Henderson County in 1879. I
would also like to find information on his wife Susan ROWARK. She was
born in Tennessee in 1814 and died in Henderson County in 1854. I'm
descended through their son John Melton WALLACE who married Sarah
Matilda ODLE. All these people are buried in Garrett Cemetery near
Middlefork in Henderson County,Tennessee. Any help would be greatly
