Charlie Couch was raised nearby and has an uncle buried in this cemetery. He carried us there and shared the following information with us. Nearby, there was a large, three floors cloth factory in operation during the 1800's. The factory bought cotton and make it into cloth. The workers hid on the top floor as the Union Army approached during the Civil War. The officers told them they knew they were in the building and wouldn't hurt them if they came out and gave up all the cotton material. If not, they would burn the building. The workers came out and did as they were told. The army did as they promised and after taking what they wanted, went on their way. The cemetery is off the Natchez Trace in a very remote area. Charlie also advises that this area has lots of small ground rattle snakes and also the large rattle snakes in the summer. He advises not to visit this area except in the cold months. More than one rattle snake is usually seen the day the cemetery is cleaned each summer. This is a large cemetery and was established around 1850. There are many unmarked graves and fieldstones.
