GARNER

Seeking info on Samuel Reed Garner, b. abt 1812 in Maury or Lewis Co., TN. His parents, Lewis Garner, moved to FL by 1822, and then AL and MS. Samuel was the family head in an 1850 MS census that has 2 kids born in AL and 4 in MS.

MANNERRING BROOKSHIRE married ELIZABETH JANE WATERS in Lewis Co., TN, 18 Feb 1865. ELIZABETH WATERS BROOKSHIRE died in 1877 in Lawrence Co., Tn. MANNERRING BROOKSHIRE d. 1925 in Sebastian Co., AR. MANNERRING and ELIZABETH BROOKSHIRE had two dau ghter, M. E. and M. A. I think their names were MARGARET and MARY. The E and A were for ELLEN and ANNA, I just don't know which is which. HUDGINS, LACHER, MOSS

TUCKER, SMITH

I am searching for information on JAMES TUCKER who married my greatgrand mother IDA SMITH. 22 DEC. 1914 in LEWIS CO. I don't have any other reference to him except the 1910 Census in Wayne Co. IDA and JAM ES came to Bolivar Co. Ms. in 1927 when my grandfather Elmer Smith came. I don't have any more information on James Tucker.

I am researching Richard Smith father of Josiah Henderson Smith. If you are too I have some information available. I have Richard Smith born @ 1821.I am also researching Mariah Jane Garner wife of Josiah H. Smith. My grandparents and great-grandparents have roots in Lewis, Wayne, Lawrence and Hickman counties up to 1920. And some are there today. The Steagall and Tatum family is a part of this line.

I am looking for ancestors or decendants of Jesse SIMS. He was born about 1796 in Lewis CO. TN. He married Jemima HUTCHISON and had at least sevenchildren. JAMES, BENJAMIN, LYDIA, JOHN HARVEY, NANCY, HULDAH, ANDREW. Jessie died after June 1880 but before 1883 and maybe buried in the old Sims Cemetry or some called it the Old Campground Cemetery.

CHURCH

The "MORMON MASSACRE " on Cane Creek abt 1884 and the "MORMON BATTALION?" Does any one have information on this Massacre? Robert Hayden CHURCH was suppose to be in MORMON BATTALION. DEVER, BIFFLE, AKIN

Seeking information on Mary DEVER b after 1760 d 1831, married Jacob BIFFLE and had dtr Mildred "Millie" b 1795 NC, who married Samuel Watson AKIN. Jacob Biffle had other children: Elizabeth, Nathan 1790, Catherine, William, John 1785 , Susan and Jacob 1783. Do not know if Mary DEVER was mother of all of his children. Jacob's will recorded in Lewis Co. Tn about 1844, and showed widow's name as Hannah, apparently second wife.

Baker Pegram from Warren Co., NC was in Lewis Co., TN in 1850. The 1850 Lewis Co. census looks like this: Baker 35, Eliza B. 28, Elizabeth 11, Clarissa A. 8, Mary E. 6, Amelia R. 5, Lelia J. 3, and James R. 1. I would love to have any data on any of these family members. I would greatly appreciate any information that someone local might have from abstracts, later census records, marriages, etc. I have never been able to identify them after this census. I have a very old picture, that was given to me by my grandfather William Marse BESHIRES's sister. This picture is of my great grandmother & father, Lu cinda DANIEL & Christopher Columbus "Lum" BESHIRES, sometimes spelled BESHIERS, BOSHERS, or BRASHERS. In this picture, my grandmother is wearing a Native Amer. dress and her hair is in 2 braids. She also has a bead necklace on. I am at a lose as to which nation she belongs. Her mother was Nancy "Nann" HANKINS and father James William DANIEL. He was from Madison Co. I think that she got her Native Amer. heritage, through her mother, as tradition dictates. I also have a picture of Lucinda's sister,Alice HEN SON, in a dress that appears to be of Native Amer. in nature. Is there anyone who can help me with this, by looking at the style of these dresses? I can send pictures via e-mail. Lum and Lucinda were married in Hardeman Co. on 4-11-1891 d!!. Chester Co. L um's parents lived in Hardin Co., at ShilohPark, in the peach orchard cabin, 1862. Please help with any history ofthese surnames.

My 4G grandmother was born ca 1823 in TN, probably Maury Co, which became Lewis CO. She married William J. MEACHUM of NC. She had at least 3 children, Martha Ann b. 1848, Amanda b. 1854 and George Frank b. 1865. The US census finds them in Marshall Co. , MS in 1850 and 1860 and Effingham Co., IL in 1870.
