Bert Richard Tatum, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Tatum, entered the Army November 7, 1941.

Wallace B. Chandler 

1925 - 1981

Growing to adulthood in Hickman County, Wallace resided in Lewis Co. with his wife Virginia by his side.  They have two daughters and three grandchildren, all being raised in Lewis County.

Wallace served in the 22 Division of the 6th Marine Corp. as a Corporal.  Following basic training at Camp Lejune, N. C, he served in San Diego, California, Okinawa, Tsingtoa, China and Japan.  Major Col. Lemuel C. Shepherd was commander of the 6th Marine Division.

Oct. 25, 1945, Wallace participated in the surrender ceremony of Japanese Military forces in the area of Tsingtoa, China.

His resting-place is Oakmont Cemetery outside Centerville, TN (Shipps Bend).
