Lewis Co, Tennessee:
Smith Cemetery
at Macedonia Page

This cemetery is located West of Macedonia on the West Fork Road. It is at the edge of Lewis County, near the Maury County line. It is located at the back of a field, at the end of the road, at the edge of the woods. It appears to be long abandoned and almost forgotten. A nearby property owner informed us several family names were reported buried here. But after we inspected the area, we could only find one grave with written information on it. There are fieldstones with nothing written on them. Graves reported in the past have been:
Ruby Gilmore - no dates,
M.S. Gilmore - June 1874-no other date,
William B. Smith Oct. 13, 1792 - Oct. 10, 1857,
W. A. B. Smith - June 30, 1847,
D .H. W. Smith - no date
D(or B) H. Wyrick, 5th Tenn. Calv., US (Marked Conf. Vet.)
At this time the ONLY grave we can find to copy is William B. Smith born Oct. 13, 1792 and death date Oct. 10, 1857.

The nearby property owner told us an American Flag had been carried to the grave of the Confederate soldier. But we found the flag down on the grave of William B. Smith, not H. (B or D) Wyrick, the reported Confederate soldier.
Copied by Bill, Sammye & Keith Lawson on 1 January 2002.
