Obituary: Mrs. Ellie Hires Dies at Home Near Oak Dale
Following an attack of double pneumonia, Mrs. Ellie White Hire, aged 75 years,
died at two o’clock Wednesday morning at her home in the Oak Dale section of
the county. She is survived by her husband , James Hire, who is seriously ill;
four sons, S. L. Hire, of Carthage; Lewis Hire, of Franklin, KY; Albert Hire, of
the Oak Dale section; Leo Hire of Long Creek; two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Perdue,
also of Long Creek, and Mrs. Elsie Jenkins of Indianapolis; a large number of
grandchildren, several great great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Bevel
of Franklin; and Mrs. Tallie Tire, also of Oak Dale; two ˝ brothers, Willie
White, of the Long Creek section; and Charlie White of near Lafayette; and an
aged stepmother, Mrs. Kittie White, also of Lafayette.
Burial is to take place at 11 o’clock today (Thursday) in the Oak Dale
Cemetery, with Rev. Ed Morris, of Bowling Green, in charge of the services. She
was a member of the Pleasant Hill General Baptist Church, and was a good woman,
loved and highly esteemed by all who knew her. She was the daughter of George
White and a native of this county.
