King Shrum

King Shrum, one of the oldest men in the Hillsdale section of the county, died t his home on the Carter Branch at seven o’clock Sunday night. He had been a sufferer from heart disease and other troubles for some time and the end was not unexpected. He was in his 85th year and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mal Shrum,; two daughters, Mrs. Nan Fuqua of near Sullivan and Mrs. Sue Day of Alton Hill; one step-son, Bill Parker, a step daughter, Mrs. Sallie Fuqua and two half sisters, Mrs. Annie Higdon of Nashville and Mrs. Dove Collins of Scottsville.

Interment was made at a late hour Monday afternoon in the Drury cemetery, following funeral services conducted by Elder Calvin Gregory. The deceased became a member of Meadorville Baptist church many years ago. He was a farmer and was born and reared near Beech Bottom.
