Pisgah
School 1929 or 1930
Contributed by Jean
Adcock
These
pictures were found in a box belonging to Ms. Betty Lou Harris
Henson. This was the first school she taught at. She taught
school in Macon and Sumner Counties. She was a very dear friend
and neighbor who passed away in 1998 at the age of 86. This image
is the older students. A lady at my church (Eulia) recognized the
4th boy sitting; Clarence Marshall, then Rudolph Stone, and the
boy sitting behind the boy on the front is Emery Cook. The teacher
in the back is Britton Morgan. Along with these pictures was a
small newspaper clipping that said: Mt. Pisgah (at the top) "The
farmers are about through with their crops. Uncle Charlie Cothron1
died Wednesday, Oct 9 and was laid to rest in the family cemetery.
School is moving along nicely at this place under the management of
Britton Morgan and Betty Lou Harris. There was a Pie Supper at
this place Friday night. There was a large crowd present and all
enjoyed the music made by Raymond Harper, Elbert Dillard, and Book
Curtis. The pies sold well with an average of $1.25 each.
Let all who are interested in the school help to make it a
success."
