POWELL families of TN
Marion Co. Border-Hopping Powell's in my familymake it very difficult
to find them. Patience (nee-unknown) Powell b.1813 TN is found as a
widow in 1850 AL DeKalb Co. Mr. Powell diedbetween 1845/50. Her boys
all born between 1832/46 were (Powellsurname): Russell Greene; Lewis
G.; Elias M.; Michael Bryant; GeorgeWashington. These children all
mig. west after the Civil War, stillborder hopping, and by the time
they got to AR & OK, their childrendidn't know whether they were from
AL, TN, MS or AR. . .anyway, Mr.pain-in-the-rear Powell who died
without leaving his name anywherethat I can find may have been holed
up in Marion County part of thetime. On military records, two of his
boys gave their address as"Shell Mound, AL" which I understand is
just across the border fromMarion Co. I see a "Powell Crossroads"
both in Marion Co TN and inDeKalb Co AL. Which "Powell" did that. .
