MONTGOMERY

Looking for info on Exeline Montgomery b. 1838 in Maury Co. TN. Do not know her fathers name, he died circ. 1845. Her mother's name was Mahela b. 1819. Her mother remarried circ. 1847 to a William Edwards. According to the 1850 census the four children still kept the Montgomery name. Exeline's father was born in SC. Exeline had three siblings Josephus b. 1840, Rebecca b. 1842 and James Leonard b. 1844. James Leonard Montgomery is my g-grandfather who came to Texas by wagon train after his service in the Civil War.

I am looking for information on the father of Ephraim Turner Beatty, born. Feb. 18, 1854, in Maury Co., TN and died Aug. 3, 1938, in Monette,Mo. His father was John Beatty, born 1816? he married Elizabeth Pinkerton, Feb. 5, 1838 in Williamson, Co., TN. Elizabeth was born 1822? I am in need of more information on the above individuals. Ephraim had a child by Carrie McCaul, John Alexander Beatty, b. 4/5/1878 and d. 4/17/1955, he lived in Monette, Mo. Looking for info on any CHAPPELL, etc. In particular info on Moorgan CHAPPELL who lived in Maury Co. in 1870. The enumerator used only initials for the given names in his district and so I need the "real" names of the family members. There was also an "S. EWING" living in the household. Need her relationship. I can't find the family in 1860 and believe they may have been slaves. Moorgan moved his family to Marshall Co. by 1880 and had a different wife. Any information greatly appreciated.

LEVI ALEXANDER NICHOLS was a preacher in the CHRISTIAN CHURCH in Maury Co. during the mid 1800s. He was married there 26 Oct, 1830 to RACHAEL CRAWFORD. All of the families listed in the title line were inter-related, and had come to Maury Co., from the MECHLENBURG CO, NC area. sometime in the early 1800s. LEVI's family evidently went to KY, as he and several of his siblings apparently were born there, but at some point, some returned to Maury Co. Levi was married twice. HARRIS, WALTERS

My grandfather lived in Maury County all his life. He believes his parents moved here from Kentucky but he wasn't sure. I am looking for any info on them. Their names were Winfield HARRIS and Eleanor WALTERS. They had four children all of which were raised in Maury County. They were Leslie, Gladys, Verna, and Burton(my grandfather). ROSS

I am interested in any information on JOHN ROSS (b.1758 Mecklenburg Co, NC d. 3 Jan 1846 in Giles Co, TN). His wife was Margaret ?. This man was in the Revolutionary War in NC and received a pension. John and Margaret were in Wilkes/Elbert Co, GA by 1786 WITH a ROBERT ROSS. They were in Williamson Co, TN by 1805 and John Ross settled the estate of JOSEPH ROSS in 1816. In 1822 JOHN ROSS bought land in Giles Co, TN. The 1820 Giles Co, TN census lists several ROSS families including a JOHN, JR. and ROBERT ROSS. The known children of JOHN and MARGARET ROSS were: JOAB, JANE, ELEM S., PRESLEY D., and GEORGE B. There may have been a JOHN, JR, and JAMES . ROBERT ROSS could have been JOHN's brother. By the 1830 Giles Co census this is the ONLY ROSS family in Giles Co. JANE ROSS married WILLIAM P. MOORE, JOAB ROSS married MARGARET TUNGETT, PRESLY ROSS married CAROLINE JANE HANNAH, the wives of ELEM S. and G.B. ROSS are unknown.

I am looking for information about Sara Louise KIRKPATRICK(1836-1872). She was married to James Newton CURRY (1829-1906). They left Maury County to move to Texas after the Civil War. Sara was killed when she fell out of a moving wagon on the way to their new home. James N. sent for Sara's mother, and she came to Texas and helped him to raise the children of Sara and James. He m ca 1833 MARIA(H) GRIGG(S), dau. of LEE & AGATHA SYKES GRIGG(S), probably in CARROLL CO., TN. This couple lived for a number of years in HENDERSON CO., TN, in the WILDERVILLE area. The information I have on Samuel is that he was the son of SAMUEL & MARTHA CRAFFORD (CRAWFORD) MILLER, who m in MECKLENBURG CO. NC, 1798. Martha was the daughter of JAMES & JENNET HUTCHINSON CRAFFORD (CRAWFORD) The information I have says that Samuel & Martha Miller died while Samuel Crafford Miller was still a child. A grandfather, named Frederick Miller, supposedly raised Samuel C. They ended up in Humphreys Co., Tn. The 1850 and 1860 Henderson Co. census shows Samuel to have been born in Tn. Researching the surname DYCUS and DICUS. GGGrandparents were Joshua Walter and Frances COX DYCUS. Frances died in 1879 and Joshua died sometime after the 1880 census and before Jan 1894 when the farm was sold by his 3rd wife Eliza HARVEY POLLOCK DYCUS.
