It seems that there is noone who can tell me what the surname of my
ancestor was. My mother's Uncle by marriage is said to have owned the
first Drive-In Movie Theater in Columbia, Maury Co., TN as well as a
car dealership in that area. He and my mother's Aunt, Lorene "Reenie"
Poole b. 1913 in Cheatham Co., TN d. 1981 in Piketon, OH had three
children; Richard "Dicky" and twins; Danny & Dee. The movie theater
was said to be named the Dan-Dee Drive-In in honor of these twins. If
noone can help me find their last name can anyone suggest how to go

I am looking for information concerning the IRVINE families who lived
in Maury County beginning in 1825. Charles Madison IRVINE was born in
VA in 1809 and moved to Maury County, TN about 1825. He married
Parthenia CHAPPELL in 1831. She was the daughter of Sarah PALMER and
William CHAPPELL, Jr. and she was born in Halifax County, VA. The
parents of Charles M. were Christopher and Annie IRVINE. I would like
to find information on Christopher and Annie as I have very little on
them. I have information on the children of Christopher and Charles
M. and other family history that I would be willing to share. I would
love to connect with other descendants of this family. If you have

3/28/1829 in Davidson County. They lived in Maury Co. Obediah's

Jason Wilson BOSHER b.1809 and d.1891. married Winnie WEAVER after
his first wife died. His first wife was Lucinda BURKS. My
ggrandfather Samuel Park BOSHER, their son, (b.Jan.18, 1850 d.1921 in
Cisco,TX) married Julia LETSINGER (b.July 2, 1853 TN d. June 10 1904
in Cisco, TX)on Nov 2, 1869. I have not been able to determine the
name of any of the parents Julia. I would appreciate any information.

Looking for the parents of William Alexander Cauthen/Caughram or
Elizabeth Adkisson.They were married on 2-23-1839 in Maury Co. and
William appears on the 1840 Maury Co. census,before moving to
Davidson/Cheatham Co. area.He was born on Sept.20,1821(family
Bible).She was born on March 16,1819.
I suspect William is related to the Caughran/Caughrons in the
area,but have no documented proof so far as to who his parents were.
P.S.Census states he and his wife were born in TN.I have all his
childrens names and birthdates if anyone thinks that might give some
clues.

Seeking data on the BLACKMAN family - the siblings John, Bennett, and
Ann - who arrived in Davidson County, TN in the 1790s from Sampson
County, NC (considerable information is available pertaining to their
ancestors). JOHN BLACKMAN was married to Nancy M. HAYS (second wife
was Elizabeth Herring); BENNETT BLACKMAN was married to Susanna HAYS,
Nancy’s sister (Bennett’s second wife was Ann CLINTON); ANN BLACKMAN
was married to Charles HAYS, the brother of the two sisters.
Additionally, a brother JAMES BLACKMAN and his wife Elizabeth Ann
OATES migrated from Sampson County to Rutherford County, TN in 1808
and settled at what was later to be known as the BLACKMAN COMMUNITY.
Bennett and Susanna Hays Blackman were my g-g-g-g-grandparents.

Would like information on John Wesley LAMAR (1842-1916) who married
Elizabeth FOUST (1844-1928) in Maury County or Giles County, TN on
August 4, 1869. Also on John Thomas LAMAR (1815-1892) who married
Mary SIMMONS (dates of birth, marriage and death unknown to me). I
believe John Thomas Lamar to be the son of Maureen LAMAR who married
Rebecca Rice sometime before 1815. I believe Maureen and Rebecca
settled on a land grant in KY after the revolutionary war.

>From Maury Co. records: John Miller JOHNSTON (written as Johnson in
the marriage record) married Mary M. "Polly" STEPHENSON 26 July 1813.
Polly, b. 9 Feb 1795 in Smith Co. TN, was the daughter of Hugh W.
and Margaret Stephenson who came to TN from Chester Co. SC. I have
her history; I need information on JOHNSTONS. According to his
children's later census records, John Miller and his brother William
were born in KY, but family stories suggest the family was originally
from NC. They were Scotch Irish and Presbyterian. In 1818, both
Stephensons and Johnstons moved to Lawrence Co AL where John Miller
Johnston died 19 Aug 1819.I know there were a number of
Johnstons/Johnsons in early Maury so I need some help here. I would
like to know about ANY Johnston/Johnson families in Maury 1807-1819
so I can at least eliminate some of them. Please email me if you have
Johnston info that isn't posted on the Maury genweb page, if you run
across wills, deeds, etc. with the Johnston/Johnson name in that time
period.

THOMPSON, JORDAN - Alexander Thompson was married to Rebecca Jordan
and had a son, Francis Marion. Alexander died in Maury County, TN
10/17/1842. Rebecca Jordan remarried a man named William Burchett
and she died in Maury County, TN in 1857. Francis Marion was born in
TN in 1840. According to the 1850 TN census, both Alexander and
Rebecca were born in TN. Rebecca in 1818. Alexander's age is
unknown. He did fight in the War of 1812.I think he had been married
previously and probably had other children.
Francis Marion went to live in Dickson County with his maternal
grandparents, John and Rebecca Jordan. He fought in the Civil War
and then moved to Texas. Would appreciate any information regarding
Alexander.

I am researching the following names in Maury Co,
DAVIS,GOODING,McKEE. I believe that my DAVIS line married into the
GOODING/McKEE line in Maury. I have not been able to prove this as of
yet but I have some evidence that points in this direction. My
gggrandfather, John T Davis is my brick wall, I have been working on
him for 2and a half years with no solid evidence. The McKees seem to
have been some of the first people to settle in Maury Co so surely
someone else is working on them as well. I do know that John T Davis
married Nancy R McDonald in 1867. He was born in 1847, she in 1846. I
believe John to be the son of James O Davis and Sarah A Gooding
Davis, they were married in 1846 and I believe that Sarah died in
1850. Her parents were John B Gooding and Jane McKee Gooding, John
died in 1854 and left no will. Jane McKee Gooding was the daughter of
Jacob McKee and Elizabeth Hamilton. I believe that Jane did not die
until the mid 1880's. I am desperate, I need to find John some
parents.

Stanford C. Grimes was born in Maury Co. in 1817. He married Martha
A. Dill in Wayne Co. in 1840 and died in 1865 in Wayne Co. His parent
were William and Elizabeth Grimes. The brick wall is which William
and Elizabeth. Can anyone help me with this. Any help would be

Searching for information on Obediah NIX marriage to Luvicy (or
Levicy, or Luvicia) BRUCE (or JENNINGS). Obediah was on a WPA
report as working on the roads in Maury County in 1817. His and
Luvicy's daughter, Mary Arminda NIX was born in Madison Co. TN on May
4, 1820 (supposedly the first white child born in that county). The
1817 date was the earliest for Obediah and I hope he married Luvicy
in that county. Help! They then went to Illinois, and then to
Fannin County Texas. Any information on these two would be
appreciated.

Seeking information on parents and siblings of my 3greatgrandfather,
Benjamin S. CLARDY. (a.k.a.- B.S.) He was orphaned in 1814 Maury
Co. and bound to Elisha UZZELL, a hatmaker in Columbia. In 1822,
B.S. became a Methodist circuit rider. 1826 married Nancy J.
KILPATRICK, daughter of Rev. Joshua W. KILPATRICK also a circuit
rider living in Maury Co. at this time. As circuit riders there was a
move to a new area nearly every year. B.S. had land in Hardin, Wayne,
Giles and Maury Co.

Trying to solve a picture mystery - I have a wedding invitation from

Would appreciate any information on the John Trotter families. One
of the daughters, Martha, married Lay Anderson. Another daughter,
Josephine, married John Wesley Robison and Eli Trotter married
Alabama, John Wesley's sister. John Trotter was married quite a few
times and had several children and step children. Mary "Polly" Fields
was one of his wives, Eliza Slaten, Marriah Coleman and Sarah Porter
was the last one I believe. After John's death, she married a man
named Ellis. I don't have anything on the Neanon marriage except
they lived around the Nashville area. Need information on the Cooper

I am looking for my ancestors and I have come to a dead end. I need
your help!! I am looking for a family by the name of WARD who lived
in Maury County in the early 1800's. My ancestor Preston Ward was
born in Tennessee on March 17, 1807. He married there, but all I know
of his wife is she was named Ellender and was born in South Carolina.
I believe that Preston's mothers name was Nancy. Preston and Ellender
did have children born in Tennessee before they went to Old
Tishomingo, Mississippi.Around 1850 they moved to Dallas, Polk
County, Arkansas where he ran a boarding house. I am descended from
his daughter Mahala who married William C. Joping and after his death
Robert Suits. If you have information concerning this family I would

Looking for information on Frank BOOKER and Margaret LYNN, married
Maury Co. 3-10-1887 (IGI Record). According to Hickman Co. History,
1807-1993, a Margaret D. LYNN was born 4-27-1869 in Hickman Co., TN,
D/O James D. LYNN & Delaney MORGAN, but it shows she married Frank
BOOKER in 1860, which can't be right. It doesn't say where they were
married. There is no info about their children. The Frank BOOKER
and Margaret D. LYNN I'm looking for had a Dau. (My grandmother)
Lilly BOOKER, who married Frank BURNES. I'm trying to figure out if

I am trying to locate information for a James Neely born August l8,
l804 showing his first wife to be Elizabeth Glass and his second wife
to be Mary Faris, b.l789 Hagerstown, Md. and the names of any
children he may have had.

I'm researching the ancestors of Jeanette (Nettie) Estes. Since she
was married to W.A. Hopwood 9-2-1909 in Columbia we have reason to
believe she was from Columbia, Maury County, TN. We know very little
about her. We do know that her mother died when she was a small child
and she was raised by her grandmother, we think Emily Estes d.
1-18-1915 at age 91. Nettie's mother and father may have been Nancy
Estes d. 3-2-1891 age 45 yrs. and J.J. Estes d. 3-17-1923 age 63 yrs.
We do know his name was John. Nettie also had an uncle named Lonnie
Estes (no dates) on him. All of these dates were taken from the
Hopwood Family Bible which was kept by Nettie. My husband is Thomas
Jackson Hopwood, Nettie's only grandchild. Any help very much
