I am searching for info on a John Wood who was supposedly tomahawked
by Indians in the spring of 1780 at Jonesboro. Will recorded at
Washington County TN but I can find no administration. Will cites
land owned in Bedford Va as well as unidentified properties. A rev
war pension declaration of James Pearce says that he put together a
volunteer company to fight the Indians and keep them from crossing
the river and attacking the settlement after they had killed one man
in the spring of 1780 at Lick Creek and Beaver Dam. Where would this
be? Could this be John Wood above that was killed? What happened to
John's TN property after his death?
