CHITTY,WARE. The courthouse at columbia, TN. county seat of Maury has
the original marriage bond of BENJAMIN CHITTY (3) and NANCY WARE,
dated 12 July 1814. Bondsman: George Cockburn. NANCY WARE, I believe,
lived near the PERRY'S and the MOKES in the Water Valley of the Duck
River in Maury County. Mrs. Charles C. Alexander, 903 Meyers Ave.,
Columbia, TN. 38401, who did some searching for my husband's aunt:
JANICE SEARL - KOLSH (who is 90 years old this year of 1999), says
the Maury county tax list gives BENJAMIN CHITTY for the years 1811,
1814, 1816, but not for 1817, I believe that is when they left
Tennessee for Franklin County Ill. JANICE SEARL - KOLSH'S mother
CLARA HOPE PERRY LOCKIE told Janice that her grandmother NANCY WARE
was a full blook Cherokee.
