citizen of Monroe County; died at his residence on Tenn. River Monday the 8th inst. His father
emigrated to this country when he was quite young from Shenandiah Co., Va. member of the
State legislature for 21 sessions. Leaves large family of children.

Torbett, of lawful age, and Marcena, James W., Mahala, Teresa, and Rachel Torbitt, minors by
gdns. Charles Kelso and John Torbitt VS Robert McReynolds, Marvell Duncan, John Hall, John
McGhee, John O. Cannon, Mahala Upton, and William Upton. In 1828 complainants father
James Torbitt died and within a few days their mother alos died. Administration granted in
Monroe County to Robert McReynolds, William S. Blair, and Marvell Duncan. Marvell Duncan
is now a citizen of Georgia. Said Blair afterwards died and respondents Cannon and McGhee
were appointed adms. and respondent Mahala Upton (then Mahala Blair) adminx. of Blair's estate.
James Hall, complainants grandfather, took negro girl with adms. consent and kept her until a
short time before his death when he moved to his son John Hall's.
