Carl Liberty Powers, 74, Rt. 2, Dover, died Friday, Dec. 27 at Clarksville Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Funeral Services were held Sunday, Dec. 29 at Sykes Funeral Chapel in Clarksville with Rev. George Gracey officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksvifle.
Born in Palmyra, Tenn. October 10, 1911, he was the son of the late Rev. M. C. Powers and Althea Greene Powers. He was a retired farmer and businessman, a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner, was on the Board of Directors of Federal Land Bank for 23 years, and past Elder of the Bowen’s Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Poyner Powers, Dover, two sons, James Alden Powers, and Carl Mastin Powers, both of Clarksville:
three daughters, Mrs. Janice Powers Bellamy, and Mrs. Carolyn Powers Bowers of Clarksville and Mrs. Mary Jane Powers Friedman of Nashville; four brothers, Dr. William H. Powers, Walter L. Powers of Clarksvile; Dr. James M. Powers, Waverly, Tenn., and Allen M. Powers of Dickson. Tenn.: four sisters, Mrs. Louise McDonald, Mrs. Bertha Thomiinson, and Mrs. Frances Grannis, Waverly. and Mrs. Dorothy Hiett, Clarksville; 9 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were H. J. Stinson, Jr., C. B. Smith, Dr. James
Morris Powers, Howard John Heitt Ill,
Dr.Walter Pegram,
John Kelley andWayne Poyner.
