He died at age 25 in Huntsville, AL of smallpox while in the Civil
War. He was living in Fairfield, IA when he enlisted. I just saw a

I am researching the Welker family amoung others in the Montgomery
County area of TN. Specifically, right now, I am trying to determin
who the father of Duke Welker, b. 1866 is. His mother was Florence
(James?) She married either John or Thaddeus Welker around 1864-1866.
Duke, his mother Florence and his father lived with his grandfather
William Welker for many years. Florence is shown living with William
Welker in the 1870 census, but Duke is not listed. Duke is listed
with his grandfather in the 1880 census but his mother is not listed.
Florence lives with Duke in the 1910 census and is listed as his
mother. What a mystery.
The Stanfill family also married into the Welker family around this
time. A Sam Stanfill is recorded as living with his grandfather,
William Welker in the 1880 census. Another family of Stanfills live
next door to W. Welker in the same census, but how did they marry in
and why is the grandson living with the grandfather?
I am also looking for information on Edward William

1848 Humphreys Co., TN--- JOHN CROCKETT, husband of REBECCA JANE
BAILEY, nominated his uncle JAMES D. Crockett, attorney for
collection of the legacy due Rebecca thru her father and grandfather,
JACOB and THOMAS Baley of Montgomery Co. ( It wasn't stated which
was the father and which the grandfather.)
I believe Rebecca's first marriage was to WILLIAM MYRICK bef 1840 as
at the 1850 Humphreys Co. census her son OLIVER Myrick, age 10 was
living in the Crockett household.
Is anyone researching the BAILEY family of Montgomery County. I
need to find out how the claim for Rebecca's inheritance was
resolved, and any other information about them. I have almost no
information, and any help would be much appreciated.

Two years into Reconstruction, a number of BRYANT, KIRBY, CANNON,
HARBINSON, MOUSLER, SCHITZLER, BERRY, etc., families left Spartanburg
Co, S.C. for the west on April 15, 1867. The BRYANT's and KIRBY's
stopped for a few months on a farm near Clarksville, (Montgomery Co.)
Tenn., while the other families went straight through to Missouri.
After a few months in Tennessee, the BRYANT's and KIRBY's moved on to
Missouri and settled on farms near Benton (Scott Co. Missouri).
Members of the family then married and settled in Benton,Scott Co,
Missouri; Blodgett,Scott Co, Missouri; Morley,Scott Co, Missouri; and
Durant, Bryan Co, Oklahoma.
Do any of you good folks know about this migration and can you help
me trace these elusive BRYANT's.
