LUSTER, PORTER

I am looking for information on my Great-Grandmother Bettie PORTER. Her maiden is reported on my grandfater's ( Ambrose PORTER) death certificate as LUSTER and she married an African-American named Laurence or Lawrence PORTER. I know that she lived in and around Todd County Kentucky and Montgomery County/Clarksville, Tennessee. I do know that in 1895 she was living in Trenton/Todd County Kentucky and appeares in the school census of 1895. Bettie is reported to be full-blooded Cherokee. I have been told that she lived until she was 96 years old and died around 1939 which means that she was born around 1843?? Outside of a picture of her and the names of some of her children (Ambrose, Birdie, Jimmy, Henry, Mary Bub), this is the only infomation that I have. I have been unable to find a LUSTER family on any of the rolls. If anyone can help me in my search, it would be greatly appreciated.

PACE, WILKINS

According to my GGgrandfather's death certificate, he WILLIAM MATTHEW PACE was born 20 October 1842 to ALC(S)EY PACE and MARY (WILKINS) PACE in Montgomery County, Tn. On the 1840 census appears an E. A. PACE (possibly EDMUND ALSEY PACE) with what appears to be 3 young children, 2 male and 1 female if I read this right. Since MATTHEW PACE was born 2 years after the census, I assume that ALCEY AND MARY PACE were married in the mid 1830's or that since no adult female appears on this census listing, that he may have been widowed and possibly remarried by 1841-2. I'm pasting the entry here: 1840 Montgomery census- heads of househoulds.

Pace, E.A. 00002 00001
