I am looking for the family of Kate ADAMS who married Hezekiah MILES.
Kate was bn 2 Jan 1853, in Robertson Co. She was the daughter of
William G. and Henrietta Paine ADAMS. Her older brother was James
Weldon ADAMS, her younger one was my line William G. ADAMS bn 1854.
The father William G. ADAMS is dead in 1855 and after the war
Henrietta brings $600 in tobacco money , her oldest living son James
(who marries Eurdora and they have no children), the two younger
children and settles near Port Royal.Montgomery Co. I believe that
James is in business in Clarksville. I have the feeling that it was
dry goods or a store of some type. Kate marries Hezekiah Miles and
I am in hopes that some of the decendants might have some information
about the ADAMS family. (The grandfather is George Adams and his
first wife, Fanny Chambers ADAMS.). Thanks Meredith. (I do know
that Goodspeed says Jamaes and his Mother improved a farm. I think
family memory says that the two men were in business together.

Searching for the parents of my 4th great grandmother, Martha W. aka
"Patsy". Listed as the consort of Rev. John MANLY on her tombstone
in Henry Co., Tennessee. She and John left Stewart Co. around 1820
and were among the first settlers in Henry Co. She was born about
1791 (possibly in Anson Co., NC as was John) and died on 12 Feb 1822.
I believe the families were in Montgomery Co., TN for a time before
coming to Stewart. Martha and John married about 1811 or 1812
(likely Stewart Co). They named their first son William Charles
Manly. The Manly migration seems to coincide with the migration of
several families including possible "W" families WALLACE, WILLIAMS
and WYNNS. Also HOGAN, ATKINS and LILLY. No luck yet in finding her
parents. I've been searching for some time. Hoping someone might
know where Martha fits in with her Tennessee or North Carolina
family. I'm writing a Manley history book for an upcoming Manley
family reunion (Oct. 17). But I need Martha's family!
