NAGY, MITTIE IMOGENE YOUNG, 85, passed away Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006 in
Scott County Hospital in Oneida. She was born to the late Sam Epps and
the late Nancy E. Young. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to
her parents, she was preceded in death by son, James Robert Marlow;
sisters, Ellen Collins, Marie Young, Maxine Walls and Geneva Wright;
brother, Theo Young; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Sue Nagy. She is
survived by son, Ronald Clemond Nagy of Glenmary; four grandchildren,
Ronald Craig, Derek Scott, Steven Blake and Autumn Jade Nagy;
great-grandchild, Alliyah Sue Nagy of Glenmary Community; and several
nieces, nephews, friends and very special friends, Ronald, Tilda and
Jacob Bowling of Glenmary. Family received friends Tuesday, Aug. 29,
2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Schubert Funeral Home, Sunbright. Funeral

NAGY, "SUSIE" BONNIE SUE SEABOLT, age 44 of the Nydeck Community
(formerly of Scott County), passed away October 5, 2004 at Methodist
Medical Center in Oak Ridge after a six year battle with breast cancer.
She was preceded in death by her father, Troy Earl Seabolt, Sr;
Grandparents, Henry and Grace Seabolt and Opal and Captola Davidson.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Ann Seabolt of Nydeck;
Daughter, Autumn Nagy of Nydeck;
Three sons, Ronald Nagy and wife Jessica, Derek Nagy and Blake Nagy;
Former husband, father of her children, soul mate and friend, Ronald Nagy;

NANCE,
CHRISTOPHER E., SR., 85, Ohio, died June 10, 2001 in Roselawn Manor
Nursing Home, Spencerville. He was born Feb. 14, 1916 in Oakdale
to Allen and Tivey Smith Nance. He was a Navy Veteran of W. W. II
serving in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. On June 15, 1944 he
married Mary B. Luthe, who survives. He was preceded in death by
two brothers Joe and Edgar Nance; two sisters Pauline Hooks and Alma Campbell
and a grandchild. He is survived by five sons, Dr. C. Eugene "Gene"
(Susan) Nance of Prineville, Ore., Douglas W. (Helen) Nance of Loudon,
Tenn., James L. (Suzie) Nance of Okeechobee, Fla, Davie M. (Darcie) Nance
of Bucyrus and Dr. Larry A. (Leslie) Nance of Haymarket, Va; a brother,
Ralph J. Nance of Lima and 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grand-children.

NANCE, DONALD R.: Death of Donald R. Nance, 26,
of 314 N. Collett has been attributed to a self-inflicted bullet wound.
Acting coroner Charles L. Blumstein said Nance died of a cerebral
hemorrhage. Police said they answered a 2 a.m. Saturday report of a
shooting at the home.Upon arrival officers said they found Nance lying
in the living room bleeding from the right temple. Ambulance Service
rushed him.to St. Rita's Hospital, where he died 10:45 a.m. Saturday.
Nance was born Jan. 5, 1945 in Lansing, Tenn.,the son of Virgil C. and
Ruth Melton Nance,who survive in Wartburg, Tenn.He married Patricia
Briemand she survives with three sons, Donald Jay, Dennis Ray and
Daniel Carl, and a daughter Tracy June, all at home. Also surviving are
maternal grandmother Mrs.Minerva Melton of Harrimann, Tenn.; four
brothers, Douglas D. and Gordon L. of Wartburg, Harry L. of Columbus
and Steven P. of Toledo; and five sisters, Phyllis Ann, Janice, Tonya
and Mrs. Charles (Freda) Freels, all of Wartburg,and Mrs. Daniel
(Sherry) Helton of Lawton, Okla. He was a construction worker and was
employed at Briem's Carry-Out. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in
Lewis Memorial Chapel of Chiles and Sons-Laman Funeral Home, Rev. Mark
Burden officiating, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may
call at the funeral home after noon Monday.

died Sept. 4, 1997. She was born Oct. 14, 1901. Preceded in
death by her parents, William Peters and Emily Woods Peters; husband, Willie
Lee Nance; son, William Ray Nance; and a son-in-law, Virgil Mullins.
She was the oldest living alumnus of Coalfield High School. Survivors:
daughter, Louise Mullins and Bobbie Hill of Coalfield; daughter-in-law,
Margaret Nance; 20 grandchildren, 32 g-grandchildren and 10 g-g-grandchildren.

NAPIER,
THE REV. LOYD "PREACHER", Retired Baptist minister, 78, of 415
Cumberland Road, Coalfield, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at Baptist Hospital
in Knoxville. Born March 7, 1923, in Harlan, Ky., he was the son of John
and Zonia Napier, who are deceased. Rev. Napier was a retired Baptist
minister. A minister and pastor for over 49 years, his pastorate was in
Crocket, Bell County, Ky. He then served as pastor in Lewallen and High
Splint, Ky. In 1959, he became the pastor of Middle Creek Baptist
Church in Coalfield, and in 1962 served as pastor of Echote Baptist Church
in Calhoun, Ga. He served as a pioneer missionary in 1965 in Miles
City, Mont., and established a church there. Rev. Napier then served as
a missionary in Kenton, Ohio, and established a mission there. In
1968, he became the pastor of Middle Creek Baptist Church for the second
time and served for 20 years before retiring in 1988. After retirement,
Rev. Napier served as interim pastor at Mossy Grove Church and at Crab
Orchard Church, serving at the latter until his health failed. A
U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he always expressed a love for his country,
his family said. He was awarded the Legion of Merit for Gallantry
and was presented with six Bronze Stars for his service in six major campaigns.
Rev. Napier is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lois Geraldine Shoemaker
Napier; his daughter, Sharon K. Jackson and her husband, Jerry; two sons,
Henry Napier and Mark Napier and his wife, Sherena; and nine grandchildren
and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded
in death by a sister and a brother, Hazel Wright and Sylvan Napier. The
funeral was held Sunday, Jan. 6, at Middle Creek Baptist Church with the
Rev. Bill Bargiol, the Rev. Ronald Guthrie and the Rev. Mack Smith officiating.
A graveside service was to be conducted at 11 this morning, Jan. 7, at
Estes Cemetery in Coalfield. Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg handled

NASH, MAUDE JONES 90, Deer Lodge, died June
14, 1997. Preceded in death by husband, Thomas Arthur Nash and several
brothers and sisters. Survived by daughters; Evaughn Monroe of Deer Lodge

NEAL, ARDELL, 74, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday,
Oct. 2, 2002, at his home. He was founder and owner of Neal's Jewelry in
Oliver Springs, which he operated until his health became impaired. He
was a master jeweler and watchmaker. Mr. Neal was born April 22,
1928, in Soddy-Daisy, and he was raised in Petros, the son of Ernest and
Dorcas Neal. His father died three years after his birth. He was raised
by his mother and grandparents, Joe and Nancy Ellen Daugherty. All are
deceased. His family said he was a talented musician who had a great love
for gospel music. Mr. Neal was a member and deacon of Tuppertown Baptist
Church in Oliver Springs. He was also a member of the Clinch River Cherokee
Council and the South Eastern Cherokee Council, Inc. He is survived by
his wife, Lil Neal; his son, Marsie Neal of Oak Ridge; and his daughters,
Juanita Patrick and her husband, Mike, and Teresa Pride and her husband,
Phillip, all of Oliver Springs. Mr. Neal is also survived by his grandchildren,
Garry Ashley and his wife, Theresa, Larry Ashley and his wife, Edwina,
Verlon Cross II, Brad Neal and his wife, Chanda, Brian Neal and his wife,
Christy, Jonathan Neal and his wife, Christina, Anita Wright and Erica
Walker; his great-grandchildren, Chelsea Ashley, Shane Ashley, Brandy Neal,
Ivy Neal, Tesa Neal, Jonathan Neal, Ronni Wright, Toni Wright and Alaysia
Walker. John Davis, Sammy Joe Moore, Skip Starnes, Donna Forstrom, Marge
Luttrell, Sharon Patterson and a trusted companion, Patches, were listed
among his closest friends. In addition to his parents and grandparents,
Mr. Neal was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack Neal, Glen Neal
and Marsie Neal. The family said a daughter has been missing since 1991.
The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, Oct. 4, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral
Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Don Daugherty, the Rev. Ralph Wilson
and the Rev. Mike Pride, officiating. A graveside service will be held
at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Adcock Cemetery in Coalfield. The family
requests any memorials be in the form of donations to Parkinson Disease

NEAL,
BERTIS--61, of Wartburg, died Tuesday, April 15, 1986, in U.T. Hospital,
Knoxville. He was born May 14, 1924 in Strunk, Kentucky.
He was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Army
from 1942-1945, and married Pauline Lloyd on July 13, 1945. He had
worked fro Plateau Electric Coop, Wartburg, from 1946 until the present.
He was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church, and had taught the
Adult Class there, and was a charter member of the IBEW Unit for Scott
and Morgan Counties. He was Past Master of the Blue Lodge In Wartburg,
and received his 32nd degree of Scottish Rite Masonry at Knoxville Consistory,
organized the Scott Rite Club in Morgan County, served as President of
the Morgan County Scottish Rite Club, and received the KCCH award in 1975.
He was a member of the Roane County Shrine club the Wizard Unit and the
Motor Patrol Unit. He organized the Morgan County Shrine Club and served
as its President. Survivors are his wife, Pauline, four daughters,
Mary Ann Neal, Wilma Whaley and Keela Neal, all of Wartburg, and Betty
Beatty Edwards of Knoxville; three sons, Donald Ray of Texas, Rex Michael
and John Bertis, both of Wartburg; two daughters-in-laws, Lenore and Libby
Neal; two sons-in-laws, James M. Whaley and George Edward, and father-in-law,
Paul Lloyd; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also surviving
are a sister: Mrs. Lola Richardson of Pine Knot, Kentucky; four brothers,
Benny Neal, Esler Neal and Junior Neal all of Pine Knot, Kentucky and Lonnie

NEAL, REBA JUANITA - age 73, a resident of Coalfield,
passed away Friday, September 21, 2001, at the home of her daughter in
Lowell, Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and
Pearl Farr, and by her husband, Jack Neal. Mrs. Neal was born March 18,
1928, in Roda, Virginia. She has lived in Coalfield since 1934. She was
employed as a Avon District Manager for Avon, Inc., before her retirement.
She was a member of Tuppertown Baptist Church of Oliver Springs. Survivors:

NEAL, ROXIE L. McGILL, 79, Oakdale, unexpectedly passed away Sunday, May
29, 2005 at Ft. Sanders Park West Medical Center in Knoxville.
She was an employee of the Miller & Brewer Co. in Harriman for 30 years
and was then employed for 10 years as commissary worker at Brushy
Mountain. She was of the Baptist Faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, S. E. Neal; her

NELSON, LONNIE CARL, SR. - age 85, a resident of The Dyllis Community of
Roane County passed away Saturday, February 18, 2006 at Briarcliff
Health Care Center of Oak Ridge. Mr. Nelson was born January 23, 1921 in
Morgan County moving to Roane County in 1958. Mr. Nelson was a member of
the First Baptist Church of Wartburg since 1946. He worked as a
millwright and retired from Union Carbide at the Y-12 plant in Oak
Ridge. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving his country during WWII. He
was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Emma Farmer Nelson, by
a granddaughter, Angela Foster, by a brother, Lester Nelson, by
sisters-in-law, Alene Nelson of Morgan County, and Ruth Buck of Ohio,
and by four brothers-in-law, Edward Griffith, Don Drake, Huston Buck,
all of Ohio, and Sam Scott of Morgan County. Survivors: wife of 62

NELSON, EVELYN JEFFERS, passed away Tue. Feb.
4, 2003 in her home in Kansas City, MO. She was a member of the Blue
Ridge Baptist Church in Kansas City. Evelyn was an honor student
at Sunbright High School in Sunbright. She earned a B.S. degree from
the University of Tennessee in Home Economics and a M.S. Degree in Education
from the Univ. of Missouri. She worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
She taught in and retired from the Kansas City School System, where she
received many awards for outstanding teaching methods. Evelyn was
preceded in death by her father and mother Willard E. and Bessie Strunk
Jeffers of Scott and Morgan County; brothers A. J. and Willard Jeffers,
Jr. of Morgan County; sister-in-law Vella Nelson Long of Morristown; and
father and mother-in-law H. Conrad and Bessie Reed Nelson. She is
survived by her husband of 52 years, H.C. Nelson of Kansas City; sister
and brother-in-law June and Dale Boring of Kingston; sister-in-law Sydney
Nelson Leonard and brother-in-law Fred Long of Morristown; sisters-in-law
Rita Jeffers and Virginia Jeffers of Morgan County; a number of nieces

of Riverside, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2004. Hazel was born in
Oakdale, TN, February 21, 1930, formerly employed at McCalls and
preceded in death by her first husband, Henry C. Kelly. Survived by her
beloved husband, Omer; daughters, Shirley Johnson, Mildred VanFossen
and Barbara Boggs; son, William Kelly; step-children, Glen Nelson, Judy
Mahaffey, Harold, Mike and Penny Nelson; numerous grandchildren and
great grandchildren; sister, Ethel Hines and numerous other relatives

JAY B., 'JAYPOP', went home to be with his Lord on Oct 1, 2002.
He was born Sept 9, 1947 in Lancing. He was a faithful and very loved
member of the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Deer Lodge and a Vietnam
War Veteran having served 2 tours and 1 tour as the greatest dad ever.
He was also an avid Tennessee football fan. He was preceded in death
by his parents Ben G. Nelson and Alta L. and Clyde Manning and two sisters
Gwynn Duffle and Rolena James. He leaves behind a beloved wife of
15 years Fayne Aytes Nelson; five sons who couldn't have had a better dad,

NELSON, LESTER Q., 86, Arcanum, Ohio, died early Saturday morning, April
2, 2005, in the Grace Brethren Village, Englewood, Ohio where he had
resided for four years.
Mr. Nelson was born in Morgan County, July 14, 1918, to the late Sam and
Emma (Farmer) Nelson. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church
Arcanum. Lester was a retired Machinist repairman for the former Dayton
Walther Steel Foundry, Dayton, Ohio retiring in 1975 after 33 years of work.
He is survived by his wife Lucy (Landrum) Nelson whom he married
February 1, 1941; daughters Bonnie D. Brown and her husband Nick of
Lewisburg, Ohio, Gloria L. Whittaker and her husband Donald of
Greenville, Ohio; grandchildren Rebecca Brown of Tipp City, Ohio,

NEWBERRY,
JIMMY R., 68, of Coalfield, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Methodist
Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean
War and the son of Archie P. and June Armes Newberry, who are deceased.
Mr. Newberry had worked as a corrections officer at Brushy Mountain State
Penitentiary for over 30 years. He was a charter member of American Federation
of State, County and Municipal Employees, Local No. 2173. He was a lover
of the outdoors, especially fishing. Mr. Newberry was a member of Elizabeth
Baptist Church at Gobey and a faithful Christian, his family said. He is
survived by his wife of 42 years, Helen J. "Jackie" Nichols Newberry; his
daughter, Janet Lynn McQueen of Knoxville; his granddaughter, Sarah McCann
and her husband, David, of Deer Lodge; and his great-grandchildren, Valerie
McCann and Cody McCann, both of Deer Lodge. Mr. Newberry is also
survived by four brothers, David Newberry and his fiancee, Tammy Schubert,
of Rockwood, Johnny Newberry and his wife, Deanna, of Harriman, Archie
Newberry Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth, of Seneca, S.C., and Michael S. Newberry
and his wife, Donna, of Coalfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Virgil E. Stringfield and his wife, Syble, of Knoxville, were considered
special friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Newberry was preceded
in death by a sister, Betty Jo Park; two brothers, John C. Newberry and
Kenneth Newberry; and by his grandparents, Issac Baker "Boss" Newberry,

of six years. She was pronounced dead at Elyria Memorial Hospital. Mrs.

GARLAND, SR. - age 83, departed this life Monday April 23, 2001 at
the Roane Medical Center in Harriman. He was born November 26, 1917 in

NEWPORT, IDA BELL --Mrs. Ida Bell Newport, age
99, of Rt. 1, Wartburg, formerly of the Straight Fork Community of Scott
County passed away Friday evening, March 25, 1983 at the Harriman General
Hospital. She was a member of the Buffalo Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by four sons: Garland Newport of Wartburg, Ermon and William
Newport both of Harriman, and Earl Newport of Monticello, KY. Three
daughters: Mrs. Fena Williams of Oneida, Mrs. Pauline Pence of Calif.,
and Mrs. Ruby Cunningham of Sparta. One brother, Claude Jeffers of
Dayton, Ohio. 40 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren and several
great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral
services were held in the Chapel of the Martin Funeral Home in Clinton

NEWPORT, L.A., Sr., 81, died Friday morning,
Dec. 14, 2001 in MedCentral Mansfield after an extended illness. Mr. Newport
was born May 10, 1920 in Sunbright and lived in the Mansfield area since
1957. He retired from General Motors after 31 years. He was a member of
U.A.W. #549 and the Civilian Conservation Corps. He enjoyed hunting and
the outdoors. He loved his children and grandchildren. He was preceded

NORTHRUP, LEONARD C., 77, Sunbright, formerly
of Dayton, Ohio, died 1/1/2000 at his home in Sunbright. Preceded by wife
Georgia, son, Phillip and step-son, Gary Blakenship. Survivors, sisters,

NORTHRUP, MAZIE, age 64, died 12/22/1964 [paper
damaged and unreadable] widow of late Virgil Northrup. Survivors:
several children, 16 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Julia Hambright and Ruth

NORVELL, ALYSSA JOY, 17, Wartburg, went home to our Heavenly Father on
Oct. 16, 2005. She was born Feb. 10, 1988 in Pike County, Mo., and
attended Central School. Alyssa planned to attend Harriman Technical
School in January.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Dawn Lisette; paternal
grandfather, Don Earl Wickersham; aunts, Celia Hall Atchison and
Patricia Hall Kent; beloved cousin and friend, Brad Byrd, II and Robert
K. Thomas; and grandfather, James Harvey Norvell. She is survived by her
mother, Lisa Joy Norvell of Wartburg; father, James H. Norvell of
Louisiana, Mo.; brother, Judson James Norvell and wife Heather Horton
Norvell and their soon-to-be-born child, Harley Ann Norvell, also of
Louisiana; grandparents, Juanita Byrd Arnold and Jewell (Toby) Arnold of
Wartburg; paternal grandmother, Mary Gillert; aunts, Sally Hall Miller
of Richmond, Ind.; honorary aunts, Betty Dyer and Joann Vann; a special
mother figure, Sharon Lane; also surviving Alyssa is the very special
man in her life, Adam Robinson, and friends Ashley Walls, Marci
Hambright and many other friends and close relatives. Alyssa celebrated
life and was beloved by all those who knew her. The family received
friends Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005 from 11 to 1 p.m. in Schubert Funeral
Home in Wartburg. Funeral services began at 1 p.m. with Bro. Larry
Perkins and Bro. Buster Armes officiating. Interment followed in Clear
