Frankfort was founded in 1885 by A. J. Dreutzer a prominent lawyer
and industrialist from Chicago. He knew Thomas Hughes, founder of
Rugby and had very much wanted to establish a colony just as Mr. Hughes
had done. Mr. Dreutzer's community was founded and promoted as a
summer resort.. Located on the Cumberland Plateau and promoted to wealthy
Northerners as the ideal climate to retire to.
The town of Frankfort does not exist anymore.
