ROSS
Chief John Ross, principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, 1828-1866.
Son of Scotsman, Daniel Ross and a quarter-blood Cherokee Mollie (Mary) McDonald,
was born Oct. 3, 1790 on the Coosa River in GA. He died in Washington, DC on August 1, 1866 and
was buried in Philadelphia until 1867 when his body was brought back to Park Hill and interred at Ross Cemetery
