William & Gay Mathis <gay@apex.net> Cemetery Vandalism, Jan 29, 2000: Around the 2nd week of January, my husband and I went to Cobb's Chapel Cemetery to take some photos and fix one of my family members tombstone that had fallen over in the old part of the cemetery. While we were there, a man pulled up and was wanting to know what we were doing there and I told him who I was and who my Mom and Dad were and that we were taking pics and fixing a tombstone. Come to find out, I knew the man very well. He delivered our mail for years. He preceded to tell us that the Saturday night before someone had pulled into the old part of the cemetery and had stolen a tombstone. We all walked to the back of the old part and sure enough, someone had dug one up and it must have been heavy because they had some kind of two wheeler or a small trailer and had hauled it out. I couldn't keep my jaw from hitting the ground and I couldn't believe that someone would do such a thing as that. I am not sure if they have figured out whose it was because they have no records for the old part of Cobb's Chapel. We are going to try and go back and take our cemetery book we have and see if we can figure out whose tombstone it was. I still am in shock over that one.
