Marshall's Obion County History reveals that the First Baptist Church of Union
City was organized in 1867 by Rev. R. E. McGowan. October 10, 1870 Alexander W. and Annie
Dixon Campbell deeded two lots to Richard C. Jackson, James Sutherlin and John Morgan in
trust for the Baptist Church. The building began under the leadership of Rev. H. Milburn.
Early pastors: R. W. Norton, I. N. Strother, J. S. Corpening, Hargrove, W. M. Bruton, J.
W. Gillion, Mathis, A. S. Hall, E. L. Watson, J. H. Wright, S. W. Kendick, D. S. Brinkley,
