AFTER BURDICK AGAIN
Suit against Reelfoot Trespassers Intervened By State
The State of Tennessee is again after J. C. Burdick and his claim on Reelfoot Lake as lessee of the West Tennessee Land Company. A few weeks since the State intervened in a suit brought by J. C. Burdick against certain trespassers in which an injunction had issued, and the State through its attorneys, insisted on a dissolution of the injunction, pleading an outstanding title in the State by reason of having condemned the interest in the West Tennessee Land Company and second that the Burdick lease from the Land Company in 1908 for nine years was void, etc.., for want of proper acknowledgment and registration.
Chancellor McKinney refused to allow the motion to dissolve the injunction, holding in substance that the lease was in any event good between the parties, and that a naked trespasser had no right to question the formality of the contract, etc.
