Waller Bright Walker Family (#1)

    This is a photograph of my Obion grandfather, his brother and parents taken about 1893or 1894, judging by the ages of the children.  On the right is my grandfather, Harry Grady Walker, b. 1890 in Obion County.  The mother is Florence Ellen McCorkle Walker, a daughter of David Purviance McCorkle (1830 - 1884) and Elizabeth "Betty" Jackson Amis McCorkle, a daughter of  Gilliam Jackson all of Obion County.   Seated, with his youngest on his lap is Waller Bright Walker b. 12 Jan 1863, a son of James B. Walker and Selena Jane Westmoreland Walker.    James B. Walker served as Sheriff of Obion County 1867 to 1869.  At left is Waller Owen Walker b. 8 Nov 1892 and d. 17 Oct 1960 in Obion County.  Waller Owen Walker married Ruby Mitchell of Dyer County.
    Waller Bright Walker died of typhoid 25 Sept 1902, leaving a young widow and two sons ages 12 and 10.  NOTE:  I have a photo of the three survivors of this young family which I will send next.
    Florence remarried widower Charles Brown of Obion County who had several daughters and subsequently Florence had another son by him, also named Charles Brown.  Harry Grady Walker fought in WWI, and became a musician and furniture store owner in Memphis after the war.  He fell in love with  Vaudeville musician Hazel M. Gwinnup when she appeared on stage and he was playing in the orchestra pit.  They married and raise four children in Memphis, with frequent trips home to visit Obion County.  Waller Owen Walker and Ruby had one daughter Jane, who married John Turner.
