Hazel Williams The school was in Samburg, left of Hwy 22 when you stop at the 4-way going west (Tiptonville), but right of the highway headed east (Union City). It was on the site of the current City Park and baseball diamonds.
Blue Ribbon Day, to the best of my memory, was health related and to get a blue ribbon a student had a note from their doctor, dentist and/or the health dep't or someone that they were healthy and "ok." I, also, think we received a "blue ribbon pin" about the size of a military good conduct medal. And there was a "Blue Ribbon" parade with floats from the different schools. I remember being chosen to ride on the Westover Float in the 2nd grade --- which would have been 1937, I think. If anyone has pictures and memories of the 1937 floats and/or other Blue Ribbon Days and parades, please contact me. Jane Powell
