Burns Cemetery analysis

Analysis contributed by:  Jan Monnin 09 November 2008
Tombstone photographs contributed by:  Sandy Daniel

Burns Cemetery is a small, well-maintained cemetery on the east side of State Route 13 about a mile north of the State Route 438 bridge in the Beardstown community. It is called Murray Cemetery on the U.S.G.S. Chestnut Grove quadrangle. David Donahue recorded Burns Cemetery February 23, 2001 and updated in August 12, 2004.  This cemetery is located in the Beardstown and DePriest Bend Area of the Buffalo River Watershed, West Side.

There are a couple known transcriptions of this cemetery:

  • David Donahue recorded this cemetery on 23 February 2001;

  • David Donahue checked and updated it on 12 August 2004;

  • (both of the Donahue transcriptions were recorded on the TnGenWeb site currently at:   (click here)

  • Mary (Stewart) Bowen and Melissa (Snyder) Bowen recorded this cemetery in the early 1990s.  Their transcription was also published in the Bowen Cemetery book,  Volume 1.  This is published online (click here).

In the list below, I’ve started with what is recorded on the new searchable TnGenWeb site, compared it to the other transcriptions and made a note of any differences.
