Perry County, Tennessee

Census Records

There are many different types of census records that have been created.  The most familiar are the federal population census records.  Lesser known census records include the federal non-population census schedules, mortality schedules, and various state records.  Perry County was created in 1818 from Hickman County, so therefore we start with records after that date.

If you see that I have no link and the row is blank, then there is no known free online transcription of that census.  If you have access to census records and are interested in transcribing a census for Perry County, or even one district of a census, please contact Jan Monnin, your Perry County TnGenWeb coordinator.

To obtain copies of actual census images (where the images are not on the free LDS website 1850 - 1900 census records), there are several options:

In person visits:

  • go to your local library and I believe they should be able to borrow the appropriate microfilm on interlibrary loan;

  • go to your local LDS family history center and they can order the microfilm for you; here's the link to their website to find a site near you: http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp.

Subscriber websites include:

Free online websites include:

Federal population census records are taken every 10 years.  Below is a recap of what census transcriptions are available online for free.
